Josh Duggar got out of rehab just in time to help his sisters with their spin-off after his family’s show was canceled. TLC axed “19 Kids & Counting” after advertisers pulled their ads because they didn’t want to be associated with a family that knowingly covered up sexual misconduct with minors.
Just a few months has passed since Josh Duggar got out of the faith-based rehab, Duggar has been seen back on the car lot selling used vehicles again. It’s not the life he envisioned for himself and had voiced that he wants to get back on television again. So far, no network was willing to risk fan and advertiser backlash by putting him on a reality show.
Josh’s biggest priority is to repair his tarnished image, US Weekly reports. Josh feels that if he could improve his image, he could get his family back on track, at least financially. A few months ago, it came out that his parents allegedly had been supporting his family, and the 30-year-old reality TV star would like to be self-sufficient once again.
Josh allegedly asked his wife to contact Dr. Phil and Megyn Kelly to interview him. He wants to keep his name in the media, and wants the Duggar fans to know that he intends to be a better person, and will do whatever it takes to get his own reality TV show.
Many feel that Josh’s ship has sailed, and there may be no way to repair his image. Even if TLC wanted to give Josh and Anna Duggar their own show, they wouldn’t have any commercials on the air. Many of the advertisers have told TLC they do not want their product associated with the Duggar’s faith and values. It is definitely a huge problem for Josh, and could be an issue for him to land another reality TV show.
Josh (falsely) believes that if he can score an interview with Dr. Phil, he could get people to feel sorry for him, which he believes would help convince TLC to give them a spin-off. It seems very unlikely that that would happen, because “Jill & Jess Counting On” was slated to be canceled this season. Their ratings have decreased, and unless they see a surge in viewership, the show will likely be taken off the air.
