While Maze is usually Lucifer’s go-to-girl for everything, it turns out she does have a few drawbacks on tonight’s all new episode of “Lucifer”.

And interrogation techniques was one of them. Maze apparently relies heavily on torture if not brutal persuasion to get answers from people, but her methods weren’t helping Lucifer in recovering his wings. So Lucifer ended up benching Maze while he instead turned to Chloe to ask her for her help. Although Chloe, like her usually herself, hadn’t been too pleased to see him.

It seems that the officer she was investigating was finally going to be taken off life support and so she’s persona non grata down at the police station. But, despite the upset, Chloe still didn’t want to close the case and she wanted to continue investigating the dirty cop theory. Even though Dan had been the first person to tell her not to.

Only Lucifer was different. He was actually supportive when he told Chloe to keep following her gut on a case she was sure of and, when he had finished buttering her up, he then asked her for advice on a case. A case by the way that he said he wanted to handle on his own yet needed a little help with.

He said he had a hit wall in his investigation and that he didn’t know what to do next. So Chloe advised him to use a pair of fresh eyes on the case who also wasn’t going to be afraid to criticize him if need be. And just when she was going to tell him that maybe he could help her in exchange for her helping him – she turned around and saw that he had left.

Funnily enough, Lucifer had taken her advice but he thought his brother Amenadiel would be the perfect person to help him look for his wings. After all the archangel had just good enough reason to look for the wings as Lucifer did because they both know that end of the world could be brought about if someone were to interfere with those wings. And admittedly Lucifer had gotten used to Amenadiel cleaning up after him.

But his brother said no that time. He said he was already overseeing Lucifer’s duties in hell because someone needed to ensure that souls weren’t escaping and then he told Lucifer to clean up after his own mess. Only Lucifer had tried to go it alone (not counting Maze that is) and it got him nowhere so he eventually went back to Chloe.

And sure she laughed when he told her that he was looking for his wings but she did put out an APB for them.

Though Lucifer hadn’t been much help when Chloe used him as a fresh pair of eyes on her own case. It seems that the scenario Chloe described of seeing the dirty cop making a deal hadn’t made sense to either Lucifer or Dan. Who had surprisingly offered to help once he realized Chloe wasn’t going to drop it like he wanted her to.

Although, again, what she described hadn’t made sense with either of them. So Chloe was forced to wonder if she had been wrong about that night and the cop’s integrity that she had been questioning for months on end. And so Chloe did push her own investigation to the side while she helped Lucifer with his wings problem.

The wings had apparently showed up in some black market auction and they found that out because the FBI had told them. The FBI were going to be raiding that particular auction. And therefore they didn’t want a cop and her sidekick to get in the way.

But Lucifer had ignored them and Chloe had followed him once she realized that he was going to ignore the FBI’s warning. So the two still went to the auction, but they were joined by Amenadiel. Amenadiel had gone to the auction as well for the wings because he said he hadn’t been as cavalier as he let on earlier.

And it did seem liked he really wanted to help Lucifer that time however the wings that everyone had thought they found had proven to be a fakes.

Someone had made a replica of the wings, probably right after they stole the real pair. So Lucifer realized that this person had seen the wings and knew what they were. And just couldn’t let anyone else have them.

So his best suspect for the theft had been the auctioneer. The same auctioneer that had used a secret door to escape the FBI raid. However, that secret door had also given Chloe an idea about what she had seen in her dirty cop situation.

You see, she thought there had been another person involved in the cop shooting and that’s why her dirty cop had gotten taken out before she could arrest him. So she had gone back to the scene of the crime and reviewed everything she had seen. And with Dan’s help, she found the secret door that Detective Malcolm’s shooter had used to escape the scene without anyone witnessing it.

But the shooter had left behind a clue. They had left the key to an LAPD issued locker and that meant Dan and Chloe were looking for a second dirty cop. And the only way they could continue to investigate that angle was for them to pretend they had in fact closed the case.

Which is what they did at Malcom’s supposed memorial. Yet Lucifer went a different route with his own problem. He later found his wings and then he set them on fire once he realized his brother had been the one behind the theft as some part of an elaborate ruse to convince Lucifer into returning to hell.

Only Lucifer didn’t want to go back and he torched the wings as a way to finally prove that to Amenadiel.

So, you know what Amenadiel did? He went into a certain disgraced cop’s room and performed the miracle of bringing someone back from the dead! And now we wait to see where the archangel is going with this.

THE END!
