A girl was finally won the title as the next MasterChef Junior on tonight’s finale. And after three seasons of nothing but boys, it was about a time!

Both Addison and Avery had come out as the strongest competitors on this season of MasterChef Junior. And they both had a certain style in their cooking. But their final challenge that would determine the winner of Masterchef Junior was something they had been preparing for months now.

The judges apparently wanted them to cook an entire meal. As in appetizer, entrée, and desert. That would not only showcase their full skill but that would also be judged in comparison to their fellow competitor.

And so each of the girls had to come up with a plan of attack though there was a time crunch. They only had ten minutes in the pantry. So they had to figure what to cook in a short amount of time although on top of that they only had ninety minutes in the kitchen as well.

And that’s why Avery ultimately decided to stick to her roots on this one. She chose cook a meal that had a definite creole feel. Therefore, it was her plan to take the best of her childhood but somehow elevate it enough to fit the judges’ unique tastes.

Though Addison on the other hand decided to shoot for a more cosmopolitan style. She wanted to use more complicated flavors and shoot for the harder dishes in order to impress the judges. And to that end she did a marvelous job. The judges had truthfully been impressed by simply hearing about her menu.

So both girls were really playing to their strengths what with one sticking to tradition and the other using as Asian feel. However, something ended up happening that had the potential to knock out a competitor before they each had even finished their appetizers. Addison had cut herself in the kitchen.

Luckily the cut hadn’t been serious but she had lost a certain amount of time when she was being treated by the medic. And so Addison had been slightly rushing in the kitchen when she got back. Though a certain a dish of hers couldn’t afford to be rushed.

Yet Avery also had an issue. She had apparently wanted to make smoke oysters as part of her appetizer and the thing about cooking oysters is that they can’t be overcooked. Else they taste rubbery.

And later when it came time for the judges to taste the dishes, the oyster did come out perfectly for both Graham and Christina. But Ramsay’s oyster was sadly rubbery. Which as it turns out was unfortunate because he would have truly enjoyed dish otherwise.

So the Cream of Asparagus Soup had a mark against it. Meanwhile Addison’s Sake Marinated Shrimp proved to be an absolute hit. And it resulted in Addison getting a great lead in the competition.

Now the entrées on the other hand had their own problems. Avery’s Lobster Etouffee had been beautiful. The lobster had been great and the prawns and seasoning had elevated the dish like she wanted. However, Graham felt the vegetables could have been cut smaller and cooked longer.

Though Addison’s Glazed Black Cod wasn’t exactly perfect. Ramsay and Graham had both loved her dish and had actually been reluctant to pass it along to their fellow judges but Christina had some critiques. She had liked the dish though she wished it wouldn’t have been quite so salty.

And when it came to desert, there really wasn’t a competition. Addison had made the Green Tea Panna Cotta and Avery had made her elevated Strawberry and Rhubarb Shortcake. And while the Green Tea Panna Cotta may have sounded like it would be more technical, it truly didn’t a hold a candle to the Strawberry and Rhubarb Shortcake.

Addison had presented her dish well and two out of three judges had been left slightly disappointed by the taste. Yet something as simple as Strawberry and Rhubarb Shortcake had been done so well that Christina eventually had the dish passed her back to her once the other had been done.

So the judges had to think really hard about who would win. Even if one person didn’t do this right and the other didn’t do that right. And with friends and family watching, the judges crowned Addison as the fourth MasterChef Junior.

THE END!
