Some secrets are not worth keeping on tonight’s episode of “The Family”. And apparently Willa had figured that out for herself when Bridey contacted her about the paternity test that was just ran on both John and Adam’s DNA.

Bridey had snuck into the house recently in order to get her hands on something that belonged to Adam and something that belonged to John. Yet, the reporter had never imagined that Danny would be right about there being something off or that the paternity would show that John wasn’t Adam’s father. So Bridey had drawn the only conclusions she could from the results and she took them to mean that Adam wasn’t really who he said was. And was instead an imposter.

However, Willa somehow seemed to have an explanation for those results and she told them to Bridey after the young woman tried to confront her for a quote. Willa said that her parents weren’t perfect people and that her mother had had an affair twenty years ago. Which resulted in her having Adam. And so Willa had argued that a young man that’s been imprisoned for most of his life shouldn’t then have to find out that his life had been a lie.

Only, once Willa had walked off, she had then begun to unravel. Willa it seems hadn’t been as sure about what she said as she claimed so she went on to hide under her desk all day. Just thinking about everything that had happened since “Adam” came back. Like all the times that Danny had raved about Adam not being Adam and how she once caught Adam looking at her in a less than brotherly fashion.

So it was pretty unclear by that point that Willa had been keeping an even bigger secret in her back pocket. But, Willa had been so busy hiding that she had ignored her phone call from her mother and it ended up being important. Meaning it had been about Adam and what happened at the mall.

Earlier, the detectives had come up with a suggestion on how to catch the pock-marked man because nothing they did appear to work on drawing him. So they had gone to the Warrens and suggested that they used Adam as bait. Which the Warrens hadn’t liked, but Adam himself had wanted to do.

Adam said he wanted it to be over so he agreed to plant a story in the press about missing the burger place at the mall and how he was going to go there again. Therefore, Danny had gone with him in order not to draw any notice yet something had gone wrong with their plan. Adam had seen his kidnapper and he had given the detectives a description however he had gotten sick at the mall and needed to be rushed to the hospital.

Adam had apparently developed an infection that hadn’t been properly treated. So the doctors told Claire and John that he was going to need surgery. Though they hadn’t been concerned about an extended stay at the hospital, they had been concerned when Adam’s kidnapper who had once again escaped getting caught and who also manage to send Almost flowers. Albeit with the wrong name.

So Claire hadn’t been suspicious about those flowers. She simply thought they had been delivered to the wrong room so she had them taken away before Adam could even see the card. Much less the name written on it. Yet, that name came back to haunt her.

Adam’s doctors had performed surgery and they had shown Claire a scan of the end result. But when the doctor said that the appendix hadn’t been compromised, that’s when she knew. She knew that the young man claiming to be her son wasn’t Adam if he had an appendix. So she had gone into his hospital room while he was still groggy and she called by the name she had read. And when she called him Ben, he answered her.

Therefore, Willa had knowingly lied about her mother’s affair yet she finally started to tell the truth when her mother later confronted her.

Claire had gone straight home from the hospital and there she had laid in wait for her daughter who she knew had been behind the fake DNA. As in the first one that had said Adam was Adam. So after Claire had gotten her daughter reveal the kid in their house was Ben, she had asked her daughter what did she do?

Only while Willa was guilty of fraud, she hadn’t done anything to her brother. She had simply chosen to help the young men that claimed he had been held captive with the real Adam. So that’s when she and Ben faked his escape from the pock-marked man whose real name was Doug. And it turns out that Doug had kidnapped Adam all those years but there’s still no word on what happened to Adam.

Or where was Ben’s actual family?

THE END!
