“The Young and The Restless” (Y&R) spoilers tease that the Christian paternity secret will continue in the wake of Sage Newman’s (Kelly Sullivan) untimely death. Y&R fans are angry that showrunner Chuck Pratt has robbed them of a satisfactory ending to this storyline.

We’ve been waiting for many long months for Sage to finally get baby Christian back in her life. We’ve seen Sage grieve Christian, survive the aftermath that nearly wrecked her marriage to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), lose out on the adoption, and just as she found the truth, they killed her off.
Loyal Y&R fans deserved to see Sage and Christian bond together in a classic mother and child reunion – but of course Pratt is known for destroying his female characters either through madness or death and sadly, this was no exception.
The Young and the Restless buzz all over the Internet is that this is a deeply unsatisfying and an abrupt end to Sage’s story which still had so much more to be explored. Sage’s roadside death scene reunion with Christian was sad and awful – and not in the way that soaps can sometimes pull off a tragedy to great effect.
Sage’s death is a slap in the face to fans and is NOT a good way to kick off May Sweeps. Sage’s dying request of Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) was that she tell Nick about the baby, but we can clearly see that Sharon does NOT want to do that.
The Young and the Restless spoilers show that Sharon was waffling and considering it, but when Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton) said he couldn’t bear to lose her and Sully, Sharon caved and kept silent. Y&R spoilers reveal that guilt will consume Sharon in coming days but that doesn’t mean she’ll come clean.
Of course, Nurse Angela knows the secret but likely won’t talk to protect herself. So what happens next? Will Y&R showrunners leave Christian with Sharon and Dylan? Will Nick and Adam Newman (Justin Hartley) never find out that the boy is really alive?
It seems like the ugly truth has to come out at some point, but without Sage in the picture, the reveal will be greatly cheapened. What was Chuck Pratt thinking with this hasty death? Eric Braeden and Peter Bergman teased a major character dying, but this is NOT what was expected.
Even when there were leaks that Sage would be killed off, no one expected it to go down like this. For Sage to learn the truth about her son and die without a proper reunion of her family is deeply unsettling. Y&R may have made a major misstep with this plot twist.
Plus, with two years of backstory on Sage that never came to fruition, why kill her off? If Kelly Sullivan wanted to leave the show, why not do a coma and recast like was done with Adam? Why kill off this character that had more story to live out?
One large Facebook group devoted to “The Young and The Restless” with thousands of members closed down in disgust in the wake of this turn of events. What do you think Y&R fans? Are you angry at what was done to Sage? Do you think that TPTB at Y&R did fans dirty with this move?
