You have probably heard about New York Knicks player Carmelo Anthony and LaLa Anthony calling quits on their seven-year marriage.
While it was initially reported that Carmelo’s busy NBA schedule was the main reason for the couple’s estrangement, a source is now telling TMZ that the actual reason for their separation is because Carmelo has been having an affair with a dancer at a gentlemen’s club in New York City.
To further complicate matters, the other woman is said to be about six months pregnant with Carmelo’s child. It is believed that the mistress will expect Carmelo to pay for all costs related to the unborn child, including medical expenses and child support.
No word yet on whether or not a paternity test has been taken to determine Carmelo is indeed the father, but if he is the father of the unborn baby, he can be expected to pay handsomely for child support, at least until the child turns 18 years of age. Carmelo is reportedly worth $90 million, and made $24.5 million in 2016 alone.
Carmelo and former MTV personality La La Vasquez, who later changed her last name to Anthony, became engaged on Christmas Day in 2004. They married in a lavish ceremony in July 2010 in front of celeb guests such as Kim Kardashian. The wedding was televised on VH1 as part of a reality series titled, “La La’s Full Court Wedding”. The couple shares a 10-year old son, Kiyan.
According to sources, La La is justifiably angry at her husband’s infidelity. Sources close to the couple also claim that the marriage between La La and Carmelo has been shaky for a while and some speculate that the couple would have separated even if La La had not found out about the other woman or the affair had not resulted in a pregnancy. But, we can imagine his infidelity and resulting love child did not help the situation.
Even though the estranged couple has yet to formally file divorce papers, don’t get your hopes up for a reunion. Apparently there is “virtually zero chance of a reconciliation”.
