Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Daytime Emmy Nominations Disappoint DOOL Fans?

Days of Our Lives spoilers report the Daytime Emmy nominations were surprising to DOOL fans as the show’s stars received only 6 nominations for the talented actors and actresses. This Daytime Emmy nomination list is shorter than the other three daytime dramas currently on the air. There were no nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series or Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series from the Days of Our Lives cast.

Kristian Alfonso (Hope), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), Deidre Hall (Marlena) and Arianne Zucker (Nicole) were all ignored by the academy for the amazing work they have done this year. The only actress from Days to receive recognition is Kate Mansi (former Abigail). She is up for an Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series Emmy.

The male actors on the show fared better with both Billy Flynn (Chad) and Vincent Irizarry (Deimos) receiving Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series nods. Chad’s love triangle storyline involving his difficult choice between Abigail and Gabi and his attempts to take down Deimos has allowed Flynn to show his wonderful acting abilities. Deimos bad guy storylines with Chad as well as his involvement with Nicole has given Irizarry the opportunity to shine. Unfortunately for fans, Irizarry’s involuntary departure from the show is eminent with his last air date scheduled for mid-2017.

Both John Aniston (Victor) and James Reynolds (Abe) received nods for Outstanding Supporting Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Victor’s struggles with his younger brother Deimos as well as his wife illness have given Aniston a storyline where he could truly shine. Abe’s return to the post of mayor has kept him front and center and allowed Reynolds to show his acting chops in many different storylines. The last actor on Days to receive a nomination is James Lastovic (Joey). His storyline involving his mother and father lead to a nod for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series

NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” received 22 total nominations which is fewer than any of the other shows. Most are related to the technical aspects of the show’s production. Days was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Drama Series Directing Team and Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team. Do you think other actors on Days should have been nominated?
