General Hospital (GH) spoilers for a couple weeks away reveal Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) gets bad news about Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). The General Hospital storyline right now has Maxie in Portland working a job and spending time with her daughter Georgie and Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson).
With Nathan getting bad news, does that mean Maxie’s not coming back as planned? Is Kirsten Storms’ return to General Hospital delayed? Is whatever personal problem that took Kirsten away from the soap taking longer to deal with?
Kirsten’s social media activity has been virtually non-existent since mid-February which is roughly when her three-month break from the ABC soap supposedly began. It was around March 10 when her leave of absence was confirmed by General Hospital.
That’s almost a month it took for General Hospital to acknowledge and address Kirsten’s absence from the set. Given GH’s lag in filming, it seems that the powers that be at the soap waited until it was noticeable that Kirsten was gone from the set.
With a three-month break starting in mid-February, Kirsten should be back on set mid-May which would leave her completely out of May sweeps. But with the three months leave already set in stone, why are General Hospital writers bringing a Maxie mention up with Nathan?
The writers explained Maxie’s absence already, so we delve back into it again? Is it to remind fans that Kirsten Storms will be back so Maxie stays on their radar? Or is it because Kirsten’s not coming back for a while and they’re preparing fans for Maxie staying gone or a recast?
This is another in a string of absences for Kirsten Storms. First, it was endometriosis then skin problems from stress linked to her divorce from Brandon Barash (General Hospital’s Johnny Zacchara). As usual, Brandon has been posting photos non-stop of him with the couple’s daughter Harper Rose Barash.
It seems that whatever is going on with Kirsten, it has taken her away from her family. Kirsten disappeared completely from Brandon’s Instagram and Twitter timeline. This is highly unusual for Kirsten and Brandon.
Both of them had routinely posted family photos of all three hanging out while Brandon and Kirsten co-parented ever since their divorce was announced. Then, 14 weeks ago all of it stopped. It’s obvious Brandon is with Harper 24/7 based on his social media.
Brandon even took Harper on the road with him for rehearsal and concerts for his band Port Chuck which is made of Brandon, Bradford Anderson, Steve Burton and Scott Reeves. That seems highly unusual, too. Kirsten popped up the day before her birthday with one pic on Instagram.
This seemed like a cry for attention and when Frank Valentini wishes her Happy Birthday, Kirsten was certain to retweet it. On April 14, she retweeted a post from Epic Women that read “Love God, Love People, Love Yourself.” Then it was back to social media silence.
With General Hospital spoilers teasing that Nathan is getting bad news about Maxie in coming weeks, it seems likely that he’ll announce to Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) that Maxie’s job opportunity in Portland has been extended to excuse Kirsten’s absence from General Hospital being prolonged as well.
Will TPTB at GH just ride out Kirsten’s leave as long as it takes? Or will there come a point where the show recasts her or takes the character off the canvas and shelves it?
