General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint that Nelle Hayes (Chloe Lanier) is the half-sister of Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and the daughter of John Durant (Corbin Bernsen). Many rumors have swirled that Nelle is doing her dad’s dirty work in Port Charles – and some of her own.
Is Nelle in Port Charles to finish what John always wanted – to get Carly away from Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) for good? Nelle was adopted by dirt bags so who is her mother remains a mystery, but John might be her biological father but may not have known about her.
John was quite the player who broke the rules as a DA and investigator and didn’t mind getting his hands dirty. For him to have a biological daughter he knows nothing about isn’t a stretch. Once Nelle’s adoptive parents died, she might have gone looking for him.
Nelle being John’s daughter makes her a good chance to be a donor match for Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy). John supposedly died back in 2006 after being shot in the leg by Manny Ruiz (Robert LaSardo) but he wasn’t shot in the chest or head – just the leg.
The persistent belief is that he faked his death to go undercover for investigative work. When he was “alive”, John’s primary goal was putting Sonny in jail by any means necessary. He hates that his daughter Carly is with a mobster and wants him gone.
John may have given Nelle all the information she needed on Carly’s history and that of those closest to her including Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman). That could easily explain how Nelle knows about Bobbie’s past as a prostitute – from John Durant!
Nelle could have gotten the silver “Caroline” rattle from John who might have come across it during the time he knew Carly. John might have kept that rattle as a memento of his daughter since he knew he’d never see her again after faking his death.
When Nelle came looking for him, John could have given Nelle the rattle. So why would John agree to help Nelle destroy Carly’s life? For the past few years, Carly has been apart from Sonny. She was with Jasper Jax (Ingo Rademacher) for a while and then Franco (Roger Howarth).
But if Nelle turned up in John’s life, he would have seen an opportunity to get rid of Sonny once and for all. It’s inevitable that Nelle’s ties to Carly would come out. By setting Sonny up to think that he slept with Nelle, Carly will believe it too.
When it comes out they are half-sisters and Sonny “seduced” her younger sister, Carly will be furious. John Durant has always played dirty to get the results he wants. He’s capable of wrecking the life Carly has now for the long-term goal of getting her away from Sonny.
That’s why Nelle got the recordings of Sonny admitting he took advantage of her. That also explains where Nelle got the date rape drugs and why she didn’t shag Sonny for real. John wouldn’t want his young daughter having sex with Sonny – just to look like they did.
Will John Durant return to Port Charles? Corbin Bernsen is a great actor and it would be a real shocker for Carly to find out her dad is alive and set up this whole scheme to cut Sonny out of her life. Share your comments below on the half-sister connections from these GH spoilers hints.
