Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry are all on social media with a lot of royals fans wondering if Queen Elizabeth should join the online trend, too. Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry have all been on Twitter and Instagram for two years now. Royal social media observers can follow them using the @KensingtonRoyal handle.

Of course, the three royals aren’t posting photos and Twitter updates from their mobile phones. Instead, a member of their royal PR team posts updates about their whereabouts during state trips, royal engagements and public appearances for them.

For the longest time a lot of royal critics couldn’t help but wonder why it took Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry so long to join social media. For many young royals, celebrities, and public figures it’s their way of connecting to their fans. Yet, the older members of the British royal family are yet to join the social media bandwagon.

And a lot of people believe it’s about time they did, especially since other European Royals like Princess Madeleine of Sweden, Crown Princess Marie-Chantel and even Queen Rania of Jordan often use Facebook and Twitter to update their fans about their personal lives, charity work and causes.

Still, a lot of people can’t help but wonder if it’s time for Queen Elizabeth to join social media as well. After all, she’s still considered to be the most popular member of the royal family. Even though she’s been putting in more effort to reach out and meet with the public personally, a lot of people believe it’s time she connected with the public online, too.

Everyone wants to know Her Majesty is up to behind palace doors. They would love to see more photos of the Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Palace, spending time with her beloved dogs and grandchildren and even her behind the wheel of her car. But that hasn’t happened and at this point, it doesn’t look like it will, either. She’s closer to retiring now more than ever before. Many believe it’s doubtful that she’ll open up new social media accounts, especially since she’s looking to lessen her workload and not add more.

So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about Queen Elizabeth joining social media anytime soon. In the meantime, don’t forget to check back with CDL for all the latest news on Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince Harry and the entire royal family right here.
