Kate Middleton is preparing for her solo trip to Luxembourg, which means she’ll have no time to help her sister Pippa Middleton before her wedding. The Duchess of Cambridge is set to visit Luxembourg on behalf of the government only a week before Pippa Middleton and James Matthews’ wedding.
According to reports, Kate Middleton will visit Luxembourg on May 11 to attend the commemoration of the 1867 Treaty of London. Insiders say that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office hope Kate and her husband Prince William can help maintain or even improve relationships with other European countries post-Brexit.
During her trip, Kate will tour the Place Clairefontaine and visit a cycling-themed festival. She will also help unveil a mural of British cyclist Tom Simpson and legendary cyclist Charlie Gaul before spending the afternoon with Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg. In other words, the Duchess will be expected to do one public appearance after another the entire time she is there.
Of course, Pippa Middleton would love to have Kate stay home and help her with last minute preparations for her wedding. If there’s anyone who understands what Pippa is going through right now, it’s Kate Middleton. But that’s not going to happen. The Duchess knows that she has to put her royal obligations ahead of her personal life. She can’t help Pippa with the wedding when she’s got her own work to do.
But then again, this isn’t Kate Middleton’s first solo trip. She visited Holland on her own in October last year. Many royal observers believe that Queen Elizabeth wants Kate Middleton to go on more solo trips by herself. This way she doesn’t expect her husband Prince William or even Prince Harry to do all the talking for her.
The last thing Kate would want is to do a royal engagement the day before Pippa’s wedding. So far nothing is on her schedule, but anything can happen. As much as Kate would love to spend Pippa’s wedding weekend with her family and friends, the Queen on the other hand is sending her a message. She’s a member of the British royal family and her duties and obligations should be taken seriously, regardless of whether she likes it or not.
