In the present, movie star Natalie James hires Ray to protect her from her abusive husband, which draws him deeper into Sam Winslow’s web. ”

Ray Donovan (Liev Schreiber) wakes up in bed, with his wife Abby (Paula Malcomson) wishing him a Happy 20th Anniversary; teasing him that she bought him a big screen TV and he jokes that got her nothing because she has been so bad. She asks what she should wear that night and tells her people in Las Vegas wear spandex. The doorbell rings and she tells Ray she will be right there.
In the kitchen, Mickey (Jon Voight) talks about how much he likes his writing teacher, saying she isn’t a phony and even wrote a television movie. He reads from the book saying, “if you write about something that happened to you, you may re-experience some old emotions.” Mickey tells him the class is free for seniors as Abby walks in, talking to the exterminator about the noises she has been hearing and she hopes its raccoons and not rats; he says they will start in the garage but may have to tear some walls down.
On the road to Las Vegas, Ray enjoys as Abby sings and they talk about 5 nice things to each other; but Ray ruins it by making everything sexual. He stops to take Abby out for a drink, even though its 8 in the morning. They walk into Andy’s Diner, where he says he has a surprise for her; and when she says he took her there a bunch of times. As they drink their Bloody Marys, Ray hands Abby a set of keys to the restaurant and tells her she owns it because she told him she wanted a bar.
Back on the road, Abby continues to do quizzes with him and she wants to know how he got the bar without her finding out and he says he has his ways but she wants to know how much it cost and if he got it illegally. She smiles and cries saying she loves it. When she asks him if the house was on fire and after all his loved ones are safe and he had the choice to get one more thing what would it be. He says the wooden box she got him because all the kids’ baby teeth are in there. She tells him that was a good answer.
Ray gets a collect call from Terry Donovan (Eddie Marsan) from prison. He tells Ray he screwed up and got caught in a whore house; Ray says he will pick him up in about an hour. Ray tells Abby he needs to go bail Terry out of jail, and she jokes wondering if Terry screwed a girl to death.
In reality, Mickey wakes up Ray and tells him he needs to get down to the bar because Terry’s wedding is still on and he needs to do the toast and other stuff. Mickey shows him his screenplay and asks how he makes it into a PDF.
Ray comes downstairs to see the nude photos of Natalie James (Lili Simmons) that were leaked online. Ray notices the hole still in the wall that he hasn’t fixed and Mickey talks that Daryll has someone who will read his script and Ray explains you can’t turn paper into a PDF; Ray offers to have someone take it over for him. Mickey pins the flower to Ray and says Abby is looking over him.
Terry gets into the car and apologizes to Abby about ruining their trip to Las Vegas. Terry tells Abby that someone named Earl got him drunk, took him to the whore house, ripped him off and dumped him in the middle of nowhere for something he didn’t even do.
Ray tells him there are no charges but Terry is devastated that the hooker stole the engagement ring meant for Maureen “Maury” Doherty (Tara Buck). He tells Ray they need to get the ring back because it was their mother’s. Ray wants to go in and get the ring, Abby asks if he is going in the brothel to talk to a hooker on their anniversary and when he says he is, she wants to watch.
Abby says she is looking for a three-some and the owner offers to get London for them. She selects Dominatrix and asks London if she likes S&M. Ray and Abby join her in the private room, Abby sits on the bed while London begins to dance against “Master”. He ties her up and puts a gag ball into her mouth and tells her she stole his mother’s ring and demands to know where it is. Abby grabs a jar of “no hair” and says she is going to tell them where the ring is or she is going to take all her hair out. London reveals where it is and they leave.
Terry says he doesn’t know what is wrong with him; his Parkinsons is acting up and he says he looked in the mirror and the way he shakes, he didn’t understand how Maury could possibly love him; so he went to the bar and that is when everything got screwed up. Abby tells him Maury is crazy about him, but he says he can’t handle the drugs he takes any more. Terry says there is nothing to tell Maury as he didn’t do anything.
Mickey and Ray arrive, and Mickey says no matter what they always end up with the right ones. Bernadette was never right for Terry and Collette was never right for Ray, but they ended up with the right ones. Ray ask Mick to be a little more quiet just for today; he agrees.
Bunchy (Dash Mihok) and Daryll (Pooch Hall) are dressed and at the bar when Bunchy explains what happened with wrestling; Mickey asks for a drink from Beckett (Ryan Radis). Bunchy tells Ray he cannot work with Lena and he assures him it will be fine. Bunchy says he isn’t a secretary and Ray tells Beckett he works for Bunchy now. Terry arrives, saying Maury forgave him after 9 ½ hours.
Mickey begins a toast, “May the road rise up to meet you. Ray says, “May the wind be always at your back.” Ray flashes back to when him and Abby arrived in Las Vegas and Abby talks about their visit to the whore house and says London was hot and that is how she knows Terry had sex with her. Ray sits and kisses Abby, telling her they should just relax now and he decides to draw a bath.
The fight is about to start and they are cheering for Damon (Dominique Columbus), Terry gives him last minute advice and the boxing match starts; Damon wins by punching him right out of the ring. Abby says the fight was great but she has been to Vegas before. Terry tells them all about where they can put electrodes into your brain and if it works them he won’t shake anymore and could be normal for a while.
He asks Maury to marry him, and wants to take care of all of them since they have spent so much time taking care of him as Abby and Ray glance at each other, she agrees. Abby gets up from the table and leaves, looking back at Ray.
All the Donovan men are at the bar and saluting to their deceased family when Ray gets a call about Natalie James; he leaves telling Terry he will be there at the wedding. Ray pours a drink for himself and wants to know what she wants from him. She says she is divorcing her husband as he is the one who leaked those photos. He says it will blow over and she says she is firing him and divorcing him because he is a piece of crap. She tells him she is afraid to go home to get her dog and stuff. Ray goes with her.
As she is packing, her husband wants to know who Ray is. Ray grabs him and drags him away. He accuses Ray of sleeping with his wife. He says he is taking her stuff and her dog; when she says she is leaving her stuff and shoves him for the dog, Ray grabs her and tells her to go to the car right now. Once she is gone, Ray tells him to give him the dog and the husband says he will snap the dog’s neck. Ray walks to the car and promises he will send someone for the dog.
Mickey is happy to see the Donovans and Dohertys together, Ray tells Maury she looks great and hands her the box that was Abby’s. He takes out the necklace and places it on Maury’s neck. The wedding goes without a hitch until Ray gets a message from Natalie that begs him to help get her dog tonight. Ray sits next to Maury’s brother, Officer Todd Doherty (Billy Miller) and says what happened in Vegas is not what he thinks and Terry is a good man; Todd leaves.
Abby asks Ray what Terry was thinking and wants to know if that is how he rationalized it all these years; Ray reassures her he isn’t that anymore. She nods as she holds his hand and says she knows.
At the wedding, Bunchy welcomes Maury to the Donovan family but then a drunk Todd stands up saying Maureen is beautiful and smart and asks her forgiveness for his confusion for when it comes to the wedding and talks about all the Donovans who have been in prison. Bunchy grabs him and smashes his face into the table, and a fight breaks out.
Ray reminisces back to Las Vegas where he ordered coffees for him and Abby, but when he returned to their room, Abby was on the ground seizing and foam coming out of her mouth. He holds her close begging her to stop. In the ambulance, he holds her hand as she looks at him as he kisses her hand gently. The doctor approaches Ray, he asks if this is from her hitting her head 3 months earlier.
Ray exits his car and staggers into the house. He looks at the hole in the wall and imagines seeing him and Abby returning from Las Vegas. She smiles at Mickey who says they haven’t found anything yet. She says they won’t find anything and she goes to lay down.
In present, day there is a knock at the door and it’s Natalie, she is holding her dog but she has a bloody nose; telling Ray she shot her husband and hands the gun to Ray asking if he will help her.
