The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers tease that Bill (Don Diamont) has acceded to Liam’s (Scott Clifton) demand, for now. Yes, Dollar Bill Spencer has stepped down from the throne he’s built (in his mind). And now the head fake begins to play out.
Bill is clever. That’s why he’ll allow Liam to feel as though he’s won, all the while plotting his own comeback. Which, of course means Liam’s eventual take down.
Sometimes a great man needs to take a step back in order to crush his opponent(s). Make them believe that they have vanquished their demonized, or invented enemies. Pacify the commoners in order to crush them and win again.
Liam is a partial coward who believes that he wears the cape of justice. This son who didn’t have the spine to tell Sally (Courtnee Draper), or Thomas (Pierson Fode) the truth about the Caroline (Linsey Godfrey) ruse is the same half-gutless guy who hasn’t contacted the police about his father’s crimes. Yet, any critique of Liam must acknowledge that it did take moxie to challenge his father, who sports various shades of dark clothing as an affirmation of his persona.
Bill recognizes Liam’s Achilles’ heel. He knows that his do-gooder offspring morphs many throughout history who claimed to be for the common man, but instead was promoting a me-first agenda.
Liam’s naked power grab has been accomplished through faulty reasoning. He believes he can do better than dear old dad. In Liam’s mind he’s moral and Bill is not. Exactly how is it that one person deems himself the expert on another person’s soul?
An honest and humble person would have acted differently than Liam. And in saying so, this scribe risks sounding like an expert on Liam’s spirit. Well, he’ll risk that perception.
An honest person would have immediately gone to the police, knowing that act would have brought grief upon oneself. That’s the heavy lift true courage takes; choosing to accept the wrath of numerous family members who have long made excuses for Bill’s destructive behavior.
A humble person wouldn’t have righteously told Bill how terrible he was. Instead, that individual would have felt compassion for Mr. Spencer because he’s obviously fallen into, or dug himself an amoral rut. No chiding, no shouting, no threats. Just go to the authorities and stand like a strong man, or woman would. But that doesn’t appear to be who Liam really is, unless, of course, this scribe and other like-minded viewers and readers are wrong.
