The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers tease that Quinn (Rena Sofer) appears to have won the second round. Sheila’s (Kimberlin Brown) most recent attempt to worm her way into Eric’s (John McCook) life failed. But the current Mrs. Forrester must continue to fight smart, as Sheila is a resilient warrior.
This scribe checked the early odds this summer. He saw Sheila as the favorite to knockout Quinn. A reassessment is in order now that Sofer’s character has taken the first two rounds.
Quinn has earned this keyboard’s respect, regardless of whatever the outcome of this arc. She openly and repeatedly acknowledged what what happened with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). Eric eventually relented, forgave her and restored Queric. All the while, Quinn was prepared to battle Sheila.
The sight of Brown’s character overtaking Quinn during the duo’s second physical battle proved intriguing, as Sofer’s character wasn’t afraid of B&B’s notorious villain at any point. She fully recognized that Sheila was dangerous, but endured. Kudos Quinn.
Mateo’s (Francisco San Martin) ruse was exposed rather quickly. Rather than extending that ploy for months, Sheila urged her perceived pawn to make an aggressive move. He did, it was a tactical mistake and Quinn stopped him cold. Then she turned him back on Sheila. Brilliant!
In so doing B&B continues to establish a believable storyline in the soap world, of course. Yes, it’s absurd that Sheila would be back in Los Angeles and intertwined with the Forrester family. But instead of having Eric fully embrace her, or having him and his family withstand a series of crimes (again), scripts have been created which have stymied Sheila. This was unexpected.
Those viewers who never liked the Sheila character, or who felt there was nowhere to go with her in 2017 must at least acknowledge that current developments feel fresh. Arcs that formerly played out on Y&R, or B&B, don’t exactly match what’s unfolding now.
Viewers don’t know if Sheila will become enraged by her lack of progress and lash out at Quinn. She might target Wyatt (Darin Brooks) to get at his mother. Has it become possible that she might, eventually, shift her obsession from Eric to someone else? Wyatt would stand as the obvious target since he matters to Quinn more than anything or anyone else. Wyatt remaining off limit to Shelia’s vengeance can’t be cited as a certain answer based upon the creative scenes that have been broadcast to-date.
Bradley Bell didn’t care that his view of the world and much of Hollywood’s didn’t match Brown’s. He focused on business issues and agreed to rehire one of daytime’s celebrated actors, who appeared to have been on a daytime blacklist since 2010. That was the last year Brown worked briefly in daytime (All My Children, as Judge Cressman).
Brown hadn’t been seen on B&B since 2003. She last played the character on its parent show, Y&R in 2006. Where Sheila will be later this year, or in 2018, isn’t an easy guess. That point affirms that Bell’s plan is working, as he’s made a well-known character’s future uncertain.
