It’s been nine months since Night Eternal and the humans have been force into working with the strigoi.

The strigoi were the vampires under the dominion of the “Master” and they now have complete control over New York. It’s their kind that polices the humans and keeps the peace however in return they demand that everyone join the Partnership. The Partnership allowed humans to go about their daily lives and even work. But the Partnership also meant that several humans would have to leave behind their families to join blood banks. So the strigoi had seemingly won the war because they now have everything they’ve ever wanted.

However, Eph couldn’t stand it in New York with them in control. He saw the moments when the worst of their kind would lose it and begin feeding on people for their own enjoyment. So he was willing to abandon his home as long as he got as far away as possible yet something grabbed his attention before he could go ahead with his plan. He saw a couple of strigoi with an oil tanker truck and it had looked like they were deliberately keeping out of sight as if they hadn’t wanted anyone to see what they were doing.

So Eph had asked around about it and had been told by one of the few friends he still has that he should forget it. There was apparently no hope with sticking his nose into strigoi business and Neil for one had tried to tell Eph that, but Eph couldn’t do it. He was curious and that meant he was going to stick around until he got answers. And so he had asked for a job to hold him over until he left and Neil naturally obliged in the end. The other man knew that there wasn’t any reasoning with Eph and had simply given in. Yet, Eph hadn’t been wrong about the tanker.

There was a story behind it and so Eph was willing to do anything even if it meant working with the Partnership as long as he got answers. But his son Zack was the one thing that Eph truly gave up. He had loved his son and had wanted to keep him safe though he couldn’t live with what his son did by setting off that atomic bomb and destroying New York. So Eph wanted to see Zack as much as he didn’t want to see him if that could be said meanwhile Zack had surprisingly moved on with his new family.
