The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers suggest actor Jason Gerhardt may have let it slip on his social media that he will be the one who landed the recast role of Adam Newman on the CBS daytime drama when he showed a photo of himself post-audition and thanking CBS. Recent news from a reliable podcast leaked that Adam Newman is alive and his character will be recast and returning to Y&R.
The Young and the Restless can redeem Victor Newman, solve Christian’s Paternity, jail Phyllis for kidnapping and make the vast majority of fans happy by bringing back one of the most missed characters in soapdom. Y&R’s character Adam Newman was last portrayed by fan favorite, Justin Hartley who vacated the role in 2016 and landed a starring role in NBC’s primetime hit sensation This Is Us.
It seemed the Adam had truly died this time after, bereaved mother, Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) returned to Genoa City set on destroying him for accidentally killing her and Billy Abbott’s (now-Jason Thompson) daughter, Delia (Sophia Pollono). She kidnapped him and blew up the cabin he was in, devastating her best friend, and Adam’s widow, Chelsea Lawson Newman (Melissa egan).
Recently on The Young and the Restless, Chloe confessed to Chelsea that she killed Adam and fled the country to avoid prosecution, leaving the door wide open for a shocking resurrection. There has been a lot of speculation that Adam would resurface and which actor would be reprising the role; many fans feeling Michael Muhney should return to the role.
Y&R viewers may not know who Jason Gerhardt is, the 43-year-old actor is well-known in the soap opera world for his portrayal of Cooper “Coop” Barrett on General Hospital, where he got involved with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and later met his demise when he became a victim of the Text Message Killer, Diego Alcazar (Ignacio Serricchio).
Gerhardt also has a connection with the man’s shoes he is about to fill, if he takes on the role of Adam Newman. He played the role of Zach Miller on ABC’s prime time series Mistresses, where Justin Hartley portrayed plastic surgeon Scott Thompson. Perhaps TPTB at The Young and the Restless think that another Mistresses alum will have as good a run playing Adam Newman as did Justin Hartley?
