Miles Brown and Rylee Arnold (mentored by Lindsay Arnold) – ’50s Jive – “Rock Around the Clock” by Bill Haley & His Comets
Judges Comments: Mandy: “We are down to the final five. What I loved about that piece is that you came to complete my friend. You are here for the win and I love that. Great jive content, loved the mini-slide, you set the bar.” Adam: “It is down to the wire and you had a moment and tonight you seized it. Excellent.” Val: “Jazz is all about soul and you were born to dance. Riley, you deserve a lot of the praise. Miles, you are a stud, I am proud.”
Judges Scores: Val 9, Mandy 9, Adam 10 = 28/30
Mackenzie Ziegler and Sage Rosen (mentored by Gleb Savchenko) – ’80s Jazz – “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen
Judges Comments: Adam: “Mackenzie I am going to tell you this because I know you have it in you, I think you are giving 100% but I don’t think you are letting go. That was awesome.” Val: “In a world of texting, I can’t believe you knew how to use that phone. I can agree with Adam, you are an amazing dancer. Dance for me is touch, movement and inspire. You need to be moved by your performance.” Mandy: “First of all I am a child of the ’80s, you had great jazz content in there. I loved the hitch kick, but a few of the spins were off. Although a very strong performance.”
Judges Scores: Val 9, Mandy 8, Adam 9 = 26/30
Mandla Morris and Brightyn Brems (mentored by Cheryl Burke) – Futuristic Paso Doblé – “Gangsta’s Paradise” by 2WEI
Judges Comments: Val: “The pasodoble is inspired by the bull and the matador. There were moments where you hit it hard and you hit it well, but there were moments that were missing triumph. It was a great pasodoble, but I wish there was more fight in it.” Mandy: “I want to remind everyone that you had no previous dance experience at all. Maybe there were some technical things missing, but I loved your compassion for what it was. You completely played that character. I thought it was great.” Adam: “I think that what you’ve done in this competition with no dance experience is absolutely incredible. If Paso looks like this in the future I’m not mad at it.”
Judges Scores: Val 8, Mandy 8, Adam 8 = 24/30
Ariana Greenblatt and Artyon Celestine (mentored by Brandon Armstrong) – ’40s Quickstep – “Classic” by MKTO
Judges Comments: Mandy: “Quick Step is hard and you are very good. You were stunning and gorgeous, I loved it.” Adam: “Ariana I know Quick Step can be challenging. You have to make sure that you are always on timing and you guys were. You have come so far in this competition. Every time you come out I always get excited, that was great.” Val: “I love the creative for you, you are a little Hollywood starlet in the making. Quick Step is tough, you are a star, keep going.”
Judges Scores: Val 9, Mandy 9, Adam 9 = 27/30
Sky Brown and JT Church (mentored by Alan Bersten) – ’20s Charleston – “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)” by Fergie & Q-Tip & GoonRock
Judges Comments: Val: “I believe in you. I am so proud that this generation there is a young lady like yourself to look up to, even at your young age. You got it, that X Factor, you are a star and belong on the dance floor. I am so glad this show found you, you are a star.” Mandy: “I love the Charleston, it is my favorite. If you move forward to next week I want to give you one correction. When you are dancing, you have the opportunity to dance at the front of the beat, on the beat or ahead of the beat. You need to take control.” Adam: “Sky what you have done through this whole competition is incredible, you bring so much joy. You have become such a role model, if you work hard, you can be good at anything.”
Judges Scores: Val 9, Mandy 9, Adam 9 = 27/30
