Mary Lou Retton and Sasha Farber dancing the Cha Cha to “Treasure” by Bruno Mars.

Judges Comments: Len: “Congratulations, it is always tough coming out first. I thought you danced confident, you are pretty nifty for fifty. Work a little more on your footwork and don’t rush.” Bruno: “I am glad to see that you have lost none of your competitive streak. You made a little mistake at the beginning, but you are natural and place yourself well. Well done.” Carrie Ann: “I think you are golden, so clean and so sharp, just two small mistakes. You are fantastic.” Judges Scores: Carrie Ann 6, Len 7, Bruno 6 = 19/30

Milo Manheim and Witney Carson – Cha Cha – “Free Free Free” by Pitbull featuring Theron Theron

Judges Comments: Bruno: “Your timing is brilliant, you have exuberant zest. You have to be careful with your long legs though, you don’t want wobbly knees.” Carrie Ann: “You such a great stature for dancing. I love how open you are, just watch your arms though.” Len: “You are tall and for that, you lose control in your body. You are a dancer though, well done.” Judges Scores: Carrie Ann 7, Len 6, Bruno 7 = 20/30

Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe – Foxtrot – “Do You Believe in Magic” by Aly & AJ Joe

Judges Comments: Carrie Ann: “You can dance, be careful though when you project with your shoulders. The trust was great, you stayed with Keo.” Len: “A ballroom dance on week 1 is a tough call. I’m with Carrie Ann, you are a dancer but that dance didn’t suit you, but well done.” Bruno: “It is like magic, you have to do it correctly. Be very careful with your free hand, don’t make them fluff.” Judges Scores: Carrie Ann 7, Len 5, Bruno 6 = 18/30

Danelle Umstead and Artem Chigvintsev – Foxtrot – “Rise Up” by Andra Day

Judges Comments: Len: “Good job Artem, that was a tough call and it was brilliant. The footwork was great, just have her lower her shoulders a bit.” Bruno: “My darling you’ve done it, that was so lovely, it was classy and effective.” Carrie Ann: “What you did was spectacular, we could all feel the bond between you and Artem. Trust what you are doing, you are going in a good direction.” Judges Scores: Carrie Ann 6, Len 6, Bruno 6 = 18/30

Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess – Jive – “T-R-O-U-B-L-E” by Travis Tritt

Judges Comments: Bruno: “It was like seeing Ryan Seacrest doing Buddy Holly, going crazy with red-hot Sharna, it was exquisitely demented.” Carrie Ann: “You are a little rough around the edges, but something about was incredible. You had this wild rock star thing going on, I was glad it was a Jive.” Len: “You came out and attacked the dance, went full on and flat out. Unfortunately, you got carried away with flat. But, if you want to see someone come out and attack a dance, this was it.” Judges Scores: Carrie Ann 7, Len 6, Bruno 7 = 20/30

Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke – Salsa – “Dinero” by Jennifer Lopez featuring DJ Khaled & Cardi B

Judges Comments: Carrie Ann: “Chemistry day one is off the charts. Be careful how you handle Cheryl, you were throwing her around a little, tone it back.” Len: “You are 100% the hunk with the junk in the trunk. The actual dance and energy that you produced was well done.” Bruno: “That’s a Salsa that gets under your skin, it was very very hot.” Judges Scores: Carrie Ann 7, Len 7, Bruno 8 = 22/30

Nikki Glaser and Gleb Savchenko – Salsa – “YES” by Louisa

Judges Comments: Len: “It was awkward, it was too cool and too careful. You have to use your hips and just dance.” Bruno: “It wasn’t a total train wreck, you just had a slight derailment with your hips. It was a little jagged and you have to work on it.” Carrie Ann: “I know what you want to do, this is all new to you. You have a great body, but look at your body as one.” Judges Comments: Carrie Ann 6, Len 5, Bruno 6 = 17/30

Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten – Jive – “Good Golly Miss Molly” by Little Richard

Judges Comments: Bruno: “A good dancer, you have done a good job, you threw in a banana split, what more could you want.” Carrie Ann: “I’m really impressed, it was really well choreographed, it was very good, very clean.” Len: “I love those toe/heel swivels, you did them great, you did the jive great, it had lots of attack, well done.” Judges Scores: Carrie Ann 7, Len 7, Bruno 7 = 21/30

John Schneider and Emma Slater – Foxtrot – “Good Ol’ Boys from Dukes of Hazzard” by Waylon Jennings

Judges Comments: Carrie Ann: “You know your way around the dance floor, just watch your chin a little. That was good.” Len: “It lacked any quality or finesse in movement. You did keep your height though, your posture was good. Good effort, well done.” Bruno: “You did the right thing, sometimes it was rough and sometimes it was smooth.” Judges Scores: Carrie Ann 7, Len 5, Bruno 6 = 18/30

Tinashe and Brandon Armstrong – Jive – “I’m a Lady” by Meghan Trainor

Judges Comments: Len: “It had plenty of snap, crackle and pop, you really came out and gave it plenty. A little flexed on occaission, but performance was top notch.” Bruno: “That was a foxy jive. Brandon, such a good job, you managed to show your partner’s personality.” Carrie Ann: “You are a star, there is something spectacular when you dance. I would like to see her shine a bit more.” Judges Scores: Carrie Ann 8, Len 7, Bruno 8 = 23/30

Nancy McKeon and Val Chmerkovskiy – Quickstep – “It Don’t Mean a Thing” by Club Des Belugas

Judges Comments: Bruno: “I think you put a face on every single step, it was too hard to keep up with it. I loved your energy, but don’t lose your balance. I love your attack and energy.” Carrie Ann: “I loved the animation, you knew every moment. I believe you will do better if you do your body contact better.” Len: “That was nothing fancy, it was just a good solid performance.” Judges Scores: Carrie Ann 6, Len 6, Bruno 6 = 18/30

“Grocery Store Joe” Amabile and Jenna Johnson – Quickstep – “Fish Out of Water” by Leo Soul

Judges Comments: Carrie Ann: “You have a big fan section. Not quite a dancer yet, you have charm and you can push a shopping cart really well.” Len: “Oh Joe, I really like you, I like your personality. I was really rooting for you, I didn’t want you to go wrong.” Bruno: “Incredible looks, charm and if you were a good dancer as well, it would be incredibly unfair.” Judges Scores: Carrie Ann 5, Len 4, Bruno 5 = 14/30

DeMarcus Ware and Lindsay Arnold – Cha Cha – “Sweet Sensation” by Flo Rida

Judges Comments: Len: “You had a fantastic presence, you have a wonderful personality and you are not a bad dancer.” Bruno: “That was delightful, delicious, Demarcus the dancer. You were as light as a feather, it was incredible.” Carrie Ann: “I agree with Bruno. That inner light that comes out of you when you dance is yummy.” Judges Scores: Carrie Ann 8, Len 7, Bruno 8 = 23/30
