Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that some shocking news is shaking up the soap world. Daytime Confidential reports that Marci Miller is exiting the role of Abigail. They have multiple sources who claim Miller has indeed decided to leave the part she took over in 2016.
When Kate Mansi chose to depart, it left the show in a real bind. It’s rare for a soap to find a younger pairing that has real supercouple potential. Mansi’s Abigail lit up the screen with Billy Flynn (Chad) and that led to a sizzling duo with real staying power.
“Chabby” was poised for a bright future, but Mansi’s exit led to some scrambling at Days. If they wanted to keep that “Chabby” future intact, recasting was a must. DOOL took their time and managed to find a surprising gem in Miller months later. She gave us a very different take on Abigail, but it worked.
Mansi’s version was a little more chic and sophisticated. Miller’s Abigail was your classic girl next door with a big heart. You’ll still find some Abigail fan wars out there, but we’ll offer praise to both women for their portrayals. Mansi was a recast just like Miller at one point. It’s important to make the role your own when you step in and that’s exactly what each of them did.
Many Days of Our Lives fans were heartbroken when Mansi left, but Miller won plenty of viewers over. She was even given a huge front-burner story, although the DID stuff has received some complaints from the audience.
However, Miller also had to work ridiculously long hours thanks to her time front and center. The soap grind isn’t for everyone, so it’s possible that played a role in Miller’s decision to exit. According to Daytime Confidential, Marcy ‘quit.’ Pursuing primetime and film opportunities is reportedly the main reason, but Miller may have been tired of her schedule at Days as well.
Miller recently received a Daytime Emmy nomination for her work on Days of Our Lives, but it seems she’s ready to hit the road. DOOL fans wish her nothing but the best!
