General Hospital spoilers tease that Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) can’t live in la-la land forever. Eventually, she is going to realize that the reason her plans for a happily ever after with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) are not going to work is not because of his interfering mother Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright), but because of Michael himself.
Even though Nelle is allegedly carrying Michael’s baby, Michael made it clear in the episode of Thursday, March 22, that while he had full intentions to be a true father to the baby, and that they could co-parent, that would be the extent of their relationship. He even reminded Nelle that it was her own lies that broke them up, not his mother’s interference.
Michael went on to say it would be best if would accept that they are not and would not be together, and that it was her problem. Nelle then said to herself, “No, Michael – it’s not my problem, it’s yours!”
General Hospital viewers will remember several months back in August 2017 when Carly had Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) do some investigation into Nelle’s past. Felicia found out that Nelle had a previous engagement when she still lived in Florida, and that her fiancé had died in an accident that his family, his sister in particular, found very suspicious.
Nelle’s former fiancé and his life had chilling similarities to that of Michael. Zachary Grant was a wealthy young man, heir to his family’s fortune. Nelle, going by Janelle Benson at that time, had been named beneficiary in Zach’s will only a few weeks before the kayaking accident that caused his death, in which Nelle had claimed she tried to swim out to him to save him, but had been unable to.
The family pressed murder charges, but they were dropped due to lack of evidence. Of course, upon learning this information, Carly, and her mother Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman), became suspicious that Michael would suffer a similar fate if he and Nelle’s relationship culminated in marriage. Since Michael had not changed his will to make Nelle the beneficiary, as Zach had, the only shot Nelle had at an inheritance would be if she and Michael married.
Nelle’s plans Michael seem to be disintegrating by minute. While Nelle is working on gaslighting Carly with good success so far, will she turn her deadly focus on Michael as well. Will she go off the deep end and decide if she can’t have Michael, no one else can, and plot his murder? With Carly out of the picture and Michael gone, Nelle would have a major claim on his estate through her baby.
