The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers reveal that another character will be phased out on the CBS soap. Anthony Turpel is reportedly off contract as RJ now, so we’ll certainly be seeing less of him on screen. Of course, his airtime has already dwindled over the past few months. RJ’s rarely around anymore, so there’s no point in B&B shelling out big bucks for a contract when they don’t use him.
Courtney Grosbeck was also dropped to recurring as Coco, but it seems she’ll actually be leaving town along with the rest of the Spectra gang. Thomas (Pierson Fode) intends to start a new fashion house with Sally (Courtney Hope) elsewhere, so he’s naturally going to take care of her crew. Without Coco around, there won’t be much for RJ to do in Los Angeles.
RJ’s main purpose since he returned has been to reunite Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). Now that “Bridge” is back on, RJ’s content and there’s nowhere to take his character without a girlfriend. Romance is the key to most stories on The Bold and the Beautiful, so RJ may be out of luck.
However, B&B fans may get to see RJ for some fun gatherings and holiday parties. If Turpel’s available for popups, the show might want RJ to spend some time with the Forrester clan occasionally. It’s nice when the family can come together and give viewers a taste of those strong bonds.
Still, it’s a shame that The Bold and the Beautiful is losing their teens. It’s a good idea to have at least a couple youthful characters on a soap. They provide a different kind of drama and can be useful in many cases. Alas, we’ll just have to forget about RJ and Coco’s brief love story. The Bold and the Beautiful has no intention of developing it.
On the bright side, maybe B&B has big plans for the future. All the cast cuts could mean they’re making room for other newbies as well as old favorites. Who would you like to see back in Los Angeles?
