The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) continue their dive into the past, this go-round including another chance to play house. Y&R is forging full soapy steam ahead into the Phick revival, with Nick asking Phyllis to move into his as yet unseen new house.
Shick fans remain aghast. The home that was referred to was meant to be for Sharon (Sharon Case). Nick decided that the then soon-to-be-Shick again needed to break from the past and move from the cottage. Just as that setting marked the start of their initial marriage, so too would the new place represent the next chapter. Sharon was initially opposed, but seemed resigned to go along with her guy.
Well, then Nick saw that Sharon took off her engagement ring, he jumped off the bridge that connects the outer regions of Genoa City to its urban area, and wound up at Summer’s (Hunter King) condo where Phyllis was living. Phick saw that old flame burning in each other’s eyes and baby, that hoped for life with Sharon was gone.
Nick’s current ask to Phyllis projects as a decade-plus revert, where both of these characters, with Tognoni supplanting Michelle Stafford in modern time, restart the game of house. Phick broke Sharon’s heart way back when, as devoted The Young and the Restless viewers know. This time, while it’s not about that, Nick and Phyllis’ feelings aren’t any more developed then when they forced their way into couple status mid-last decade.
Leaping back to 2018, Phyllis wasn’t done with Billy (Jason Thompson). He was done with her and still is. Part of his current fun with Sharon involves poking the Phyllis bear, while also agitating Nick. But both spurned lover’s motives aren’t based in getting back together with the former significant others. So, Phyllis has no place to go, beside Jack (Peter Bergman) and she apparently doesn’t want him again.
So, what has Phyllis done in the past when she was momentarily alone? She, like Nick has glommed on to whatever warm body was available. Both characters have that in common, as they are clingy. Incapable of standing solo, instead choosing to rush into various relationships, with some of them working and others, not so much.
If viewers actually see Phyllis carry her life’s belongings, which now include fashion-forward Fenmore’s power pants suits, into Nick’s new digs, then an eventual Phick remarriage could also happen. Nick is adamant about moving past Shick, knowing that Sharon made that decision for him. Philly is finished, as Phyllis knows.
