The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) biggest problem will be handling his mother’s behavior. While various Genoa City players are worried about Sharon’s (Sharon Case) negative impact on him, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) is actually the person who’s causing Nick the most trouble at this March moment.
Nikki’s affair, or whatever it actually is, with Arturo (Jason Canela) was accidentally discovered by Nick. That reveal was certainly a soapy push, as it just so happened that Morrow’s character had to deliver something to his mother. So he heads upstairs at the GC Athletic Club. At that exact instant, Arturo steps out of the suite to embrace Nikki and Nick sees it. But they didn’t see him. Okay, seasoned daytime viewers get it, this part of the storyline had to be forwarded.
So now Nick has another parent-produced problem weighing him down. He has to worry about how Nikki’s odd dalliance might affect the subsidized housing project he and his mother are working on, while also considering the debased method Nikki used to connect with this third-party vendor.
It would also be interesting to know if this mother-son duo are fully funding their seemingly altruistic real estate effort, or if they’ve tapped GC’s coffers, meaning public tax dollars, to back their emotionally-based generosity? They’re Newman’s, so all motives are suspect and therefore open for question.
Separately, how ironic that Nikki, who was always the one to chide Victor (Eric Braeden) about his many amoral pursuits, would take up with a man who’s less than half her age. Actually, it can be logically argued that she’s paying this man for his services. That point is made to all moral relativists who believe that they were just preached to.
As Y&R fans recall, Arturo claimed an overage percentage was needed to move forward with the construction work his family’s company was performing. Nick refused to pay it. Nikki took over negotiations and got Arturo to agree to cost overruns of no more than ten percent.
The spread between that amount and whatever he was originally requesting is basically the price Nikki is paying Arturo for the, uh, relations she’s been having with him. Some would call that type of arrangement money in return for, well, let’s have readers fill in that three-letter word that rhymes with hex.
So Nick just lost the woman, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), he’d grown to love, while unexpectedly regaining a friend, or more, in Sharon. With that part of his life at least counterbalanced, Nikki had to upset the Arturo cart. Yes, having self-indulgent parents like Nikki and Victor will likely always be his main problem.
