Tonight on NBC America’s Got Talent begins with an all-new Tuesday, May 28, 2019, episode and we have your America’s Got Talent recap below! On tonight’s AGT season 14 episode 1 “Auditions 1″, as per the NBC synopsis, “Summer’s #1 show, “America’s Got Talent,” returns with Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel joined by new judges Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough alongside new host Terry Crews. In the season premiere, variety acts of all types and contestants of all ages audition for the chance to win the $1 million prize. The Golden Buzzer is back giving five lucky acts the chance to go directly to the live shows at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to compete for America’s vote.”

It’s all-new season of America’s Got Talent, and this time, there is no Mel B or Heidi Klum. Joining regular judges, Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel are actress Gabrielle Union and dancer Julianne Hough. Taking over for host Tyra Banks is Terry Crews.
Our first act is on stage, his name is Greg Morton, and he is a 60-year-old voice impersonator. This is what he wants to do full time and thinks AGT is his big break. He does an assortment of Star Wars voices and noises; some Chewbacca, Darth Vadar, Yoda, spaceships, lightsabers and much more. The judges give him a standing ovation, the crowd can’t stop clapping.
Judges Comments: Howie: “I can’t believe we haven’t heard your name, I can’t believe we haven’t been to your shows, and I can’t believe there is not a banner in Vegas with your name on it.” Gabrielle: “There is a lot of talent just waiting for their turn, this is your turn. This is the first act this season and I am so grateful, you are so talented.” Julianne: “I have always watched this show as a fan, but I was not expecting that at all. I would buy a ticket right now and see your show.” Simon: “That was actually a really special moment Greg, never seen anything like that before. You are in the right place.”
Four yes votes for Greg, he is moving on in the competition.
Next is Eric Chien, he is from Texas and felt like he lost his identity when he was in the military and couldn’t perform magic. He knows Shin Lim, last year’s AGT winner, and realizes the pressure that puts on him. He has been performing for the past six months. Eric does a card trick that makes cards disappear and reappear, change color. His vest changes the same colors as the cards, red and blue. The color changing is quick and cool. At the end, he takes a coin out of his pocket, puts it on the board and then, one by one, coverts the cards into coins. His vest turns back to black, all the cards and all the coins are gone.
Judges Comments: Simon: “Most magicians do that kind of suave, kind of ta-da, got you. You looked more confused than us and I loved that.” Gabrielle: “I think I am just as baffled as the audience, how? You are magic, it is your time to step up and claim your place amongst the best, you are amazing.” Julianne: “The fact is you don’t have to compare yourself to anybody, I am glad you showed up as you.” Simon: “Eric, this was a different level, you are so humble, you don’t know how good you are. The future is in your hands, you don’t know how good you are.”
Another four yes votes, Eric is moving on.
Sophie Pecora is 15 years old, she is singing an original song and it is about school, she is in the seventh grade. The song is about being bullied at school. Sophie is playing an acoustic guitar while singing with rap mix.
Judges Comments: Gabrielle: “We ask for artists to come on the stage and wow us and honey you did. You are so young and you spoke to me, you have a special gift.” Howie: “You are really unique and you dance to your own drummer, you are so relatable. It was real and wonderful and I thank you so much for being here.” Julianne: “You performed truth for us, from the core of who you are. I thought it was brilliant.” Simon: “It was a very emotional song. I could feel how much this means to, you have this delivery that is really cool, I like you a lot.”
Four yes votes from the judges, Sophie is ecstatic, she is moving on.
AGT wouldn’t be the show it is without some silly acts, and here is the first one. A man named, Monkey, dressed as a monkey in ballet slippers, a mustache, a yellow tutu, and a banana, dancing on stage.
Simon is the first one to hit the buzzer, followed by Howie and Gabrielle, and Julianne doesn’t get a chance to hit hers, Simon leans over and hits it. Simon says they have had 14 fantastic years and now it is over. Julianne says that this may not be his year, but when you have a passion, work really heard, she believes in him, keep going. Howie, Simon, and Gabrielle gives NO votes, Julianne calls them dream crushers. Say what?
We see a series of acts that all fail and get the X buzzer over and over again by all the judges.
Next is a group called Purgatory, they sing and dance; the only word they say over and over again is “meow.” Julianne is X drunk, she goes from not hitting the buzzer to hitting hers and Simon’s over and over again.
Patrizio Ratto is from Italy, he is a pianist and is excited to show his music to America; his inspiration is Beethoven. All of a sudden, he kicks away his bench moves away from the piano and starts to dance to a remix of his music. He does a combination of pop and lock, then returns to the piano like he was there all the time. The audience and the judges give him a standing ovation.
Judges Comments: Julianne: “First of all, that was very unexpected. In the beginning, you were this put together very classical young man, and then you were like WOW, then BAM!” Howie: “We have never seen anything like that, two art forms that really don’t go together.” Gabrielle: “That was unbelievable, you were Bruce Banner and then the Hulk, and you are sexy. Are you single?” Simon: “Without people like you we do not have a show and I am unhappy. I will always remember this moment.”
Patrizio gets four yes votes, he has impressed the judges and America.
V Unbeatable are from Mumbai, India. They share with us the hard conditions that they live in, when they dance they forget all the tensions in their minds, they feel free. These kids don’t just dance, they do amazing acrobats as well.
Judges Comments: Gabrielle: “You guys blew us all way, you brought something to this stage that we have never seen before.” Julianne: “This was absolute brilliance, this is family that comes together, I am blown away, I think we just watched history in the making.” Howie: “I think you just made your future.” Simon: “This was certainly one of the best dance acts we have ever had on this show. This is the world has the talent and you have trusted America.”
One a count of three, V Unbeatable gets four yes votes.
Jackie Fabulous is a full-time comic, she is from the Bronx NY. She was a lawyer by trade, but she was fired. The judges love her!
Judges Comments: Gabrielle: “You made us laugh even before your set started. Way to go!” Simon: “Thank God for you. Just when you think the world has lost its sense of humor, halleluiah. You are hilarious, I want to hang out with you.” Julianne: “I thought that was amazing.” Howie: “You have the perfect name. You are a superstar.”
Simon says he needs to kiss her, he gets up and goes on stage, kisses her on both cheeks and makes her cry. She gets a “Hell Yes” from Julianne and another two, four yes votes in all.
Gingzilla is a ginger-bearded drag queen from Sidney, Australia, who plans on making it big and getting a doll in Japan. Gingzilla sings “She’s a Lady,” by Tom Jones.
Judges Comments: Howie: “You are so entertaining, you are such a good performer, I think you are going to go really far in this competition, I loved it.” Julianne: “I can absolutely see you in Vegas, I would come every weekend.” Simon: “I was, what the bloody hell was that, but this was fantastic. It is exactly why we created this show.” Gabrielle: “You should get used to this kind of reaction.”
Four yes votes get Gingzilla to the next level.
Brian Miser, The Human Fuse is a dangerous act, his wife is nervous and doesn’t like when he tempts fate. He made a large crossbow, his wife is going to him across the studio, on fire. He was running in the rain, and fell the day before; he has bruised ribs.
This was insane, he lands on fire and they have to use extinguisher sot put the fire out. Thankfully, Brian is ok.
Judges Comments: Simon: “You are alive! Thank God for that.” Howie: “I am fascinated that you said if you win a million dollars, you are retiring. It is thrilling, I was on the edge of my seat.” Gabrielle: “We ask acts to WOW the audience, and you did it. I like that you don’t let age define what you do, bravo.” Julianne: “It is ridiculously amazing, I am proud of you for doing something so crazy, you inspire all of us.”
Simon asks what is he prepared to do if he moves forward, Brian says he doesn’t know. Regardless, he gets four yes votes and makes it through to the next round.
Kodi Lee is the final act for the evening, he is 22 years old, he is with his mother as he is blind and autistic, and needs assistance. Kodi is going to sing a song at the piano. He mother says that he is an entertainer, it has saved his life playing music. Kodi is amazing, he brings tears to Gabrielle and Julianne’s eyes. Is the tears that I see in Simon’s eyes? I believe so.
Judges Comments: Howie: “All four judges and all the audience were up on their feet. Not only do we feel the authenticity of what you do, you are a great inspiration and a great talent. It was amazing.” Julianne: “I know everybody needs a voice and expression. I feel your heart, your passion, your voice blew us away. I heard you, I felt you and that was amazing.” Simon: “What just happened there was extraordinary. I don’t know what it is to live in your world, all I can tell is that you have an amazing relationship the two of you. Your voice is fantastic, you have a beautiful tone, thank you for trusting us on this show. I am going to remember this moment for the rest of my life.” Gabrielle: “I am a new judge this season, and I am also a new mom this year, its the toughest job I have ever had and the most rewarding. And, tonight, I want to give you something special.”
Gabrielle hits the golden buzzer, well deserved! Kodi is going straight through to Hollywood.
