Chicago PD begins tonight with Brian Kelton (John C. McGinley) body being covered up with a sheet and the IU on the scene with CPD. Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) take control of the situation, saying Sgt Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is on his way to the scene, as Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati); once the officers walk away from Jay, he confesses to Hailey that he was covering as Voight told him earlier that he was going to see Kelton and was going to do what needed to be done! Kelton’s body is carried out of the house as Voight stands on the sidelines, looking a little confused, but doesn’t say a word, everyone saluting Kelton, but him.

Voight walks in and Sgt Crawford is running the scene from CPD Homicide. He asked for a moment of privacy but Hank tells him he can say what needs to be said in front of Jay. He informs him a black SUV was spotted in front of Kelton’s home just before the murder, 3 SUVs and one of them was his. Voight wants to know if he is asking if he killed Kelton; instead of answering, he walks away with Jay. Halstead gives Voight all the information they have thus far on the case and he leaves the scene, running into Dep. Superintendent Katherine Brennan (Anne Heche), saying there is a long list of suspects, but he got what he wanted but despite their differences, she did love him.

The following morning, Kim asks Hank if he spoke to Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) at all, but no one has. They review the Kelton case and a burner phone from someone called “SLO-MO” and the hits are coming from Southside Hustlers. Hank orders boots on the ground now, but when Jay wants warrants, Hank says he wants boots on the ground now, which means skip the warrants. They arrest several people with drugs and weapons, but they are willing to let people slip if they will give up Slow-Mo. Finally one of them says Slow Mo’s real name is Curtis Monroe and he is a Southside Hustler, mid-level guy who has done two stints inside. He is a known associate and cousin of Wilson Young, the same person Kelton had killed. Hank tells them to start digging but needs Kevin to do a pick up for him.

Adam Rusek (Patrick John Flueger) has bail posted by Sgt Hank Voight. He is told that if he wants to survive prison he better get used to being alone. Kevin quickly gets Adam up to speed on the Kelton case, wondering if Voight had something to do with it. Kevin is a bit upset that Adam never told him what was going down with IAD, but Adam says he simply didn’t want to get him into it and there is nothing he could have done. Adam has to wait for trial and he is stripped of all his police power. Kevin gives him encouragement but has to leave to a trap house where Monroe is supposedly hiding at.

Kevin gives chase through a store, asking him if he wants to live and jumps in front of the white CPD, telling them to stand down, begging Monroe to stand down and he will get a fair shake. He puts the gun down and is promptly arrested by CPD, shaking Kevin up.

Curtis Monroe is in interrogation with Voight as CPD watches from the next room. He advises him to not lie to him, because he won’t like how it ends. He says Kelton got what he deserved, admitting he sent the texts, knowing Kelton worked with them, but he never paid them up; owning gang money all over the streets. There is a knock at the door and Hailey whispers something, revealing Curtis’ alibi checks out but pulling a gun is not going to get him released. Kevin tells CPD that they are welcome as he saved his career by not allowing them for shooting a black kid.

Kim calls Antonio and leaves another urgent message, feeling something isn’t right, even asking Jay if he heard anything. Voight tells the team to hit the streets and talk to their CIS. Hailey doesn’t believe Voight did this because he wouldn’t be risking their lives if he did it. They get a call about the ballistics are head to the lab. It is a 9mm that was used in a robbery a few days earlier. They feel it may be someone Kelton owed money to too.

They manage to find Franco outside a convenience store, but he insists he never met Kelton before so Voight wants to know his whereabouts the night before but says he was in Detroit visiting his sister. Voight tells him he is taking with them. At the precinct, he sticks to his story but Jay feels this is not their guy and wants to toss him but Voight feels he knows something. Hailey has a CI who knows him and thinks she can pull some leverage, Voight agrees to. Voight has grown concern about Antonio as Jay says the last he saw him he wasn’t in good shape, so he asks for Adam to check on him as it will keep him busy.

Adam is let in by the landlord and finds the place trashed and extremely messy. He finds empty pill bottles and beer bottles, along with smashed pictures and his detective badge. Adam calls, Sgt Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) who says she will call him as soon as she has a location, she tells him she is happy that he is out and will call him soon. Adam finds Antonio’s car with several more empty bottle inside, his sponsor comes out with a baseball bat demanding answers. He says he listened to Antonio who was in bad shape last night, he went to bed around 4:30 when he thought ht was in a better place. That is all he knows.

Hailey and Jay learn from Adam that Antonio has been missing since 4:30 and he is using again. They meet with her CI, Matt. He agrees to help, but can’t guarantee anything. Kevin leads the CPD into a salon where Hailey gives them a warrant showing they are looking for weapons and drugs. They find a safe, which they cut open and find 1 kilo cocaine and 3 unregistered firearms. Inside the precinct, Franco sees his wife inside the interrogation room and asks Voight why he is doing this and he says because he is refusing to cooperate. He agrees to help and Voight promises if he cooperates his wife will be back painting nails within the hour.

He admits the gun he used in the robbery went missing an hour after the shooting, and it was stolen by a cop; causing Voight and Jay to glance at each other as Franco tells them the dude who pulled trigger was blue. Voight feels it doesn’t matter if this is true, because he isn’t giving a name and they shouldn’t share this with homicide as the fewer people who know this the better. Jay closes the doors, bouncing what he’s learned off of Hailey. He is not saying Voight is involved but the dots are connecting and not in a good way. Voight was one of the cops involved in the raid and he is connected with Kelton and they know what he is capable of. She doesn’t think they can jump to that conclusion but he doesn’t think they can just look the other way.

CPD Homicide meets with Jay, saying the evidence is leading to Voight as their prime suspect. Jay defends Voight, but Jay learns that Voights fingerprint was on a Scotch glass in Kelton’s living room. He is trying to give Jay a way out, asking him to help him rather than throw his career away for Voight as sometimes he needs to look out for himself. Jay gets in his truck and drives away, asking him if he is trying to threaten him.

Jay returns to the precinct and tells Kevin and Kim, who both want to know what their play is. They all are behind Voight, guilty or not. So they discuss their next move. Voight meets with Jay in a parking lot. Jay tells Voight his head is swimming, wanting to know what is going on with Voight and Kelton for real, asking him if he is involved. His prints are there because he was there the night before. Voight says if he admits what he was doing, Antonio will lose his job as he was with Antonio. Antonio called him while he was heading towards Kelton’s and he turned around to pick him up taking him to an off the books clinic. Something that was between the two of them and not for him to reveal. Jay says they are circling Voight and building a case. He did not kill Kelton, swearing on his son; but Jay said he had to ask. Voight is frustrated saying that he did not!

Trudy found 3 more names of cops involved in the liquor store robbery, a Dt David Baker was kicked off the force last year for stealing evidence – drugs, guns, tvs – you name it, he stole it. It all makes sense to her. Voight and jay go to visit him, finding out that the former cop died a couple weeks earlier. She found the lady who has been paying his rent the past few months, thin, blond, not too bad looking and she took all his stuff. Voight shows her a picture of Kate Brennan and she confirms that it was her. Jay finds out that Brennan and Baker dated for a while, so Voight says he is going to take it from here.

Voight arrives at Brennan’s, escorting himself inside to talk to her. He wants to know if she has a key to his backdoor to his house. He came there as a friend, as her dinner host said she seemed preoccupied. Voight doesn’t care about anything he just wants to know why she did it. She begs him not to do this, but he wants to know what happened. She shakes her head, saying if he is going to take her down for murder he better have more than a theory.

Hailey and Jay are going through video footage, but decide to go through Baker’s file to see what he drove, as she would not want to be obvious. Voight shows her the evidence of her being 2 blocks away from Kelton’s house in the car and that she used Baker’s gun to do it. She tell shim they both know the City is better off without that two-faced son of a bitch. He agrees as she says she did what she had to do. She wants to know what is going to happen now. Voight pours himself a drink and leaves alone; something Jay and Hailey witness, wondering what he is up to. Jay wants to do in there and Hailey follows her after Hank drives away. Hailey stays at the front while Jay goes to the back.

Back door is open, as Jay spots Kate sitting on the couch loading her gun. She points it at Jay who pleads for her to put it down, she puts it under her chin and he begs for her to put it down and come in with him and tell her side of the story. She fires the gun but Jay grabs it saving her. Brennan holds her head shaking and crying and Jay is also shaken.

Jay and Hailey return to the police station with Brennan in handcuffs, giving her to Trudy to process her. She is mad at Hank when he asks if she wants him to call her lawyer. She calls him a liar, saying he would give her an hour. Hank looks at Jay who slams the truck door as Hank shrugs his shoulders, accusing him of going behind his back. Hnak chastises him of thinking everything wrong. He gave her a chance to do what she needed to do to get her affairs in order – a containment. He didn’t know what Hank was doing because he didn’t ask. Voight said he was handling it, not him. If Brennan wanted to put a bullet under her chin that was her call, not his. If Jay doesn’t like the way he conducts business, he can get the hell out!!

THE END!
