Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) and Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) could soon have more screen time together, and they could actually become a romantic paring on the show. In the Soap Opera Digest summer preview, DOOL head writer Ron Carlivati discussed what’s ahead in Salem this summer, and one particular statement has our interest piqued.
About Sarah and Xander, Carlivati said the following: “This is a couple that kind of took us by surprise when we had Sarah drunkenly sleep with Xander that very first time. But it totally seems to work and make sense. Rex is still a factor, but there’s this real wild card with Xander and, to me, the potential of a real possible lasting love story there.”
There are a couple of standout points in that quote. First of all, Carlivati stated that Sarah slept with Xander “that very first time,” which indicates that there may be more trysts coming up between the two characters. As DOOL viewers know, Xander recently propositioned Sarah, but she turned him down flat.
However, that doesn’t mean that the characters can’t get together down the line, especially if Xander is persistent. We should also point out that Kyle Lowder, who portrays Rex, will be leaving DOOL this summer, so at some point it seems that Sarah will be single again. Might she then turn to Xander? Stranger things have certainly happened.
Another standout part of Carlivati’s quote has to do with there being “the potential of a real possible lasting love story.” Love story! It might seem unsettling to think of evil, self-centered Xander being involved in a love story with Sarah of all people, but it looks like it just might happen.
And that leads us to wonder whether TPTB are planning on letting viewers see a softer side of Xander unfold over the summer. So far, it’s seemed that Xander is only interested in Sarah for sex, but perhaps his feelings will start to run deeper, and he’ll find himself actually smitten with her. That would be an interesting twist for sure…an “in love” version of Xander!
