General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) has been having a tough time lately. She’s been dealing heavily with the loss of Oscar Nero Quartermaine (Garren Stitt) from her life, and even though it was difficult right after he died, it proved to be just as difficult for her to head back to school without Oscar. She’s really been having trouble relating to her friends and getting back into the swing of things.
Lately, Joss has been zoning out and in her own head most of the time, and she uncharacteristically wasn’t there for Cameron Webber (William Lipton) when he needed support during Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) competency hearing. Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) really stepped up for Cam instead, and Joss was pretty much nowhere to be found during all of that drama.
But there has been one person who seems to be getting through to Joss, and that’s her teacher Dustin Phillips (Mark Lawson). Dustin has been able to comfort Joss in a way that others haven’t been able to, and he’s actually suggested an outlet for Joss during her difficult time – journalling. The journalling seems to be helping her, and she’s spent quite a bit of her time on it, although Dustin also encouraged Joss to spend time interacting with her friends, too.
One thing we’ve noticed lately is that Joss has mentioned Dustin and his help to her family on more than one occasion. She seems to relate to him, and it’s possible that he’s able to get through to her because he didn’t know Oscar. Joss kind of feels the same way about Dev Cerci (Ashton Arbab) – that he’s a breath of fresh air because he doesn’t constantly remind her of Oscar. At any rate, it’s clear that Joss feels a strong fondness for Dustin and that he’s helped her a great deal.
But one wonders if there’s more developing here. Could Joss be developing a crush on her teacher? She may not even realize that it’s happening, but given how much Dustin is helping Joss, it wouldn’t be too out of the ordinary if she started developing feelings for him – perhaps feelings that she doesn’t quite understand herself. Some of it may simply be transference of her feelings for Oscar during a confusing time of grief.
Of course, if that is what’s going on here, then that would greatly complicate things for Joss, and for Dustin. It would be unfortunate if Dustin suddenly found himself having to pull back from Joss because he notices her getting too attached, especially since he’s the one person who’s really been helping her. At any rate, a crush at this point would probably only serve to confuse and hurt Joss in the long run.
