General Hospital Spoilers: Wednesday, October 23 Review - Martin Attacks Liz’s Credibility - Finn Dotes On Violet

General Hospital (GH) spoilers review for Wednesday, October 23, reveal that the competency hearing of Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) got underway. Both Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) and Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight) started with their opening statements. Scott focused on Franco’s heroism and the fact that his DNA is clearly Franco’s, not Drew Cain’s (Billy Miller). However, Martin argued that Franco no longer exists, and that Drew now inhabits his body. He claimed that Drew is his own person and isn’t just a collection of cells and DNA.

Next, Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry) took the stand and discussed Franco’s heroism. She explained how he helped unmask Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) and almost died in the process. She also noted that Franco sacrificed himself to save Cameron Webber’s (William Lipton) life. Cameron spoke next, with Scott leading him through the story about how he came to accept Franco into his family, then about how Franco saved him from the memory procedure.

Cameron also told the court about Franco’s final words – that he’d be back. Martin then cross-examined Cameron and badgered him, trying to get him to say that he felt guilty about what happened to Franco and that he’d do anything to make it up to his mom, including lie about Franco’s famous last words. It got pretty heated, and Franco stood up and yelled at Martin to stop, then told Cameron that none of this was his fault.

Next on the stand was Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst), who explained that she just wants her family back, and that she was here because she made a vow to Franco when they got married, and that she intended to keep that vow. Martin then attacked Liz about her history with Jake Doe and how she withheld critical information from him out of “love.” At that point, things looked pretty bleak for Elizabeth and her case.

Of course, there’s plenty more of this hearing to go down still. Martin may have been tough on Elizabeth, but Scott is going to be equally (if not more) tough on Kim Nero (Tamara Braun) when she testifies. As GH viewers know, Julian Jerome (William deVry) gave Scott and Liz some explosive information about Kim, which is likely the story about how Kim drugged the real Drew and tried to have her way with him in order to get pregnant. That would certainly mar Kim’s credibility.

Meanwhile, Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) told Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) what he already knew – that the patient he had been called in to see was their daughter. Finn was momentarily stunned, then decided to discuss it later and tend to the patient for the time being. Finn then went into the room and met Violet Finn (Jophielle Love). The two shook hands and had some cute interactions together, with Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy) standing by. Finn was immediately enamored by Violet.

Luckily, Violet’s fever came down, and Finn later regrouped with Hayden out in the hall. He curtly explained that he’d have to pass Violet’s care onto another doctor – a pediatrician – as there are strict rules about doctors treating their own children. Hayden looked absolutely miserable about the whole situation, as she was both worried about what may be wrong with Violet and about Finn’s reaction to finding out that he has a daughter.
