Tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy begins with Dr. Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) who brings several doctors to a utility room that has been filled with plant life, which has proven to increase patients’ lives and wellbeing. She tells Dr. Casey Parker (Alex Blue Davis) to remember more trees as they want people to forget they live in a city and this is a jungle.

Maggie brings the doctors into the next room while explaining that full levels of blue light that is the same amount in drug trials. Maggie explains before they enter the next room, how puzzles and games help neurologically, which brings them into room number 3 which is the “Game Room” and they find Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) so nicely relaxing on one of the couches. Bailey shouts at the TV while everyone raises their hand to be volunteers for these therapeutic rooms.

Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) runs into Andrew Deluca (Giacomo Gianniotti) in the hallway, revealing he hasn’t heard a word from his father. He makes a quick getaway from Meredith as Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) informs Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) that he has cleared his schedule to attend birthing class with her, but that surprises her as he was supposed to assist her. Once Owen left, Teddy feels she should have told him that her boyfriend, Dr. Thomas Koracick (Greg Germann) was coming to the birthing class too.

Tom leaves the room and Teddy shouts at her body, telling the baby to “get off whatever organ you are on soldier!” Meanwhile, Dr. Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) is still unable to reach his wife, Dr. Jo Karev (Camilla Luddington) but finds Meredith working on a new “dream” in the forest room. Alex isn’t sure how Jo’s visit is going meeting her birth mother and Meredith is avoiding talking about her situation with Deluca. Alex admits he is worried about JO and Meredith is trying to give her raging Italian boyfriend a moment to get things together.

Maggie and Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) enjoy the blue therapy room when Maggie notices how happy Amelia is; who willing admit that she had insanely good sex with someone who wasn’t a stranger. Oddly, Dr. Atticus Lincoln (Chris Carmack) walks in at the most inopportune moment, revealing he was at the same conference as Amelia and quickly excuses himself when Amelia says it was a one-time thing and it was for pain management.

Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse William) talks with his stepfather, Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.), questions on whether it is a good time for his mother, Dr. Catherine Avery Webber (Debbie Allen) to be returning to work; but they have no time to discuss it when the helicopter arrives with patients, Kari (McNally Sagal) and Toby Arielle Hader), both of who were hurt in a vehicular accident.

Andrew gets Alex’s page, where he is told that he is going to do the total pancreatectomy and DeLuca is going to be the one who to tell her. Dr. Dahlia Qadri (Sophia Ali) is with Nora (Lidya Jewett), where Alex and Andrew meet with her; DeLuca steps in and reveals that today everything has aligned and they are taking her to surgery. Her mom hugs her, very excited that she will be able to go back to school.

Parker finds Teddy in the blue room, who is frustrated and feeling the room really isn’t working. She complains about pain for the past hour and was hoping it was stress but it becomes excruciating and she tells him to call OB and Owen Hunt; but when he attempts to leave the room, she orders the soldier to stay; talking to her baby, not Parker.

Owen is with Tom when he gets the page in the birthing class. Owen rushes off, leaving Tom standing. Dr. Carina DeLuca (Stefania Spampinato) informs her that she isn’t in labor but she needs to be on medication to stop the contractions so she doesn’t have preterm labor. Teddy screams that the baby is not ready to be born and as they lower the bed, Owen comforts her.

Amelia confronts Link about them not telling anyone, but he only said he was at a conference and she is the one who mentioned the sex. She feels to be safe they need to stay away from each other; Richard paged them both, forcing them to work together and even speaking in sync.

Jackson is dealing with Toby, who is told of her mom’s injuries. She informs Richard that she is gender binary and to use the terms “them” and “they”. In the meantime, Qadri calls Parker into Nora’s room, where she is proving to be a mathematical genius. She keeps wanting the questions because she didn’t want to have the surgery, but Alex walks in saying something is wrong with her insulin levels and she no longer can have surgery even though she has been waiting for more than 6 months. DeLuca accuses Alex of giving him favors for having a bad week.

Amelia and Link review their scans and Link feels that he would rather not handle this case on his own as she could become a paraplegic and Amelia agrees. In the game room, Miranda continues to play the game, but without the mandatory cuff to monitor her pressure. Qadri comes in, requesting for Dr. Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli), saying she has a patient who is a math whiz and she is crushing; Miranda and Maggie all jo to Nora’s room, determined to prove they can’t be outsmarted by an 11-year-old.

Carina informs Owen and Teddy that she has an insufficient cervix. Carina believes her laying upside down is helping and the best thing Owen can do is reassure Teddy and the baby. He talks to the baby about her big brother, Leo as Teddy laughs at him with the silly voices he is using.

Nora is still willing on every question, even though she feels they are letting her win; something Miranda says she never lets anyone win. During the questions, Qadri checks on her and finds a juice box that she hides in her pocket.

Jackson wants to know if there is something he needs to worry about when it comes to his mother; but Richard reminds him that he learned after he did; both say they are not scared. Jackson, Dr, Taryn Helm (Jaicy Elliot) and Richard do Toby’s scans. Richard’s words are being offensive and Taryn is the one who corrects him; the scans reveal they need to get her up to the OR immediately. Link works on Kari, while Amelia explains she has two injuries in her spine and they need to get into surgery before she is paralyzed. She says she never sits and could never live in a wheelchair. Amelia promises they will do everything they can.

Alex tells Meredith that her boyfriend is being a jerk, but she feels it is none of her business as he needs to work this out all by himself. Meredith asks him not to bring any stress into the green room, but then DeLuca walks in and she suggests taking a break and getting a coffee. DeLuca says he is there to see Alex and they believe that Nora’s mother might have sabotaged the surgery. When confronted, Nora says the school is stupid and filled with cliques and her friend Lauren found new friends because she has been too sick. She tells Alex she doesn’t want the surgery and she will keep drinking the juice.

Alex calls Eileen into the hallway when Nora says that it is her body and her choice. She feels she is not great at listening and DeLuca pushes her, saying she needs to “hold her down” and make her have the surgery. He demands that Eileen makes Nora get the help she needs but when he is out of control, Alex orders him to walk away or he is fired.

Teddy says the baby talk makes her feel shy, so Owen turns around as Teddy attempts to have a conversation with her a baby. Owen tells her she is doing great and she is not insufficient and it is her fault everything will go wrong with the baby; Owen barges out of the room returning with another bed, lays beside her so she doesn’t feel alone. They hold hands, which makes Teddy smile.

Jackson and his team begin their procedure as Richard still continues to struggle to call Toby “they”. He reminisces about a story of a mechanic who insisted on calling him Ricky and he became so infuriated with him that he fired him. He simply understands what it is like to be called something they are not and Taryn isn’t helping the process.

Qadri brings the results to Alex, who feels they can talk her into the surgery now. Alex spots DeLuca talking Nora about his own childhood traumas, saying she is way cooler than he ever was. She will kick ass in math and made a lot of friends in the hospital; all of whom are nerds, but she simply needs to push through. She agrees to trust him, but his face becomes solemn when he notices Alex watching.

Amelia and Link work hard in their OR, where she encourages him and thanking him for the work. Together they make a great team and her motor sensories are still intact. They are all thrilled. Alex goes into surgery with Qadri who says kids are mean and once put a snake in her bag; DeLuca barges in, learning that he wasn’t needed as Alex removed him from the case. He meant what he said about DeLuca not being anywhere near this patient.

Amelia and Link continue to work so well, he doesn’t know how she deals with the neuro side of things and finds it impressive. States drop and Amelia freaks out, realizing Kari lost all her sensors in every extremity.

Owen holds Teddy’s belly, telling the baby her mom was better than the best; she was strong and reminds her how her mom saved a patient by herself. He shares so many memories for their baby, saying she will never have to turn around and not have Teddy holding her up. Tom finally arrives, saying the room is cozy. Owen gets up, leaving the two alone but Tom is a bit angry with Owen. He demands to know in the hall that if Teddy was actually in labor if he would have told him or left him completely in the dark. Tom has had enough, not losing sleep over Owen hating him but if Owen plans on giving Teddy a ring and hurt her again and again; he will not like it and won’t take it lying down. He refuses to walk away and will fight for her. He reminds Owen that he chose Amelia more than once in his history with Teddy; and she deserves to be with him, who loves her and only her.

Toby is told that her mother, Kari is not awake yet. Amelia, with Kink by her side, explains the injuries to her spine, the swelling but she is paralyzed from the neck. Link says she is still there but will need a lot of help from her and the family. Toby says that Kari is the one with all the answers. Jackson says he has a mother just like that but it’s now when she is hurt and needs you; that is when you know you got it already. Jackson reminds her not to let her mom down. Toby wants to be with her mom when she wakes up.

Alex calls Jo, only leaving is one more message. DeLuca feels Alex did him wrong, but he gets why he is pissed off with his dad, but it is messing with his job and his relationship. He advises him to stop biting the hand that is reaching out because eventually, they stop reaching out.

Maggie wants to do Meredith’s numbers, but after she gets a message from DeLuca, it all makes sense. Owen stands outside the room as he watches Carina talk to Tom and Teddy, who are laughing and finally able to relax. Owen learns everything is okay with the baby and he smiles as he watches Tom and Teddy.

Jackson sits with Maggie, who says all the stuff she is doing is the stuff of nightmares. She tells Jackson she will never forgive him for giving her the immediate answer. Link finds Amelia in the blue room, where they both struggle with what happened. He holds her hands, but she locks the door and kisses him. Meredith arrives to see DeLuca, saying she is past the point in her life of worrying about what he is doing. DeLuca knows he can’t help and fix his father, needing a minute to not drag her down with him; but right now he needs her. She smiles, saying that maybe she needs a moment now; but it doesn’t last long when she takes him in her arms kissing him. She realizes he not only speaks Italian but also cooks. He promises to have her mind blown.

Alex comes home and finds Jo in their bed. He leans in and kisses her forehead, saying he missed her. She opens her eyes and breaks down silently crying.

THE END!
