They get to work. The judges check in with them. Malia is making a Japanese breakfast. Matthew is making filet mignon. Sadie discusses her refined palette while Che works on his salmon. The clock counts down and it is timed up. Only three chefs’ plates will be selected.

Ben is called up next for his Japanese style pancakes with candied bacon and fresh fruit. Christine loves his choice for breakfast.

Not just one but all three of them will be given an advantage. They do not have to compete in the next challenge. They get to decide what school lunch the rest of the chefs will be making.

They are given 60 minutes to make their version of a school lunch that was selected for them. They run to the pantry to get their supplies. Two chefs will go home.

Some of the chefs get moving on making meatloaf while others make chicken nuggets and chicken quesadillas. Gordon helps Rashad realize he needs to get his meatloaf in the oven fast as they only have 60 minutes. Talulah is making an interesting twist on the chicken quesadilla she tells Gordon is inspired by her French background.

Two minutes remain. The chefs begin to plate. Only six dishes will be examined. Two of the six dishes will see the chefs going home. Thomas, Talulah, and Evie are all called on for their great dishes. Mateo is called to the front for his chicken quesadillas, rice, and beans. Aaron commends him on his dish.

Rashad is called up next for his meatloaf. Gordon cuts open his meatloaf to find grey inside. Neko is called to the front next for her chicken quesadilla. Christina notices that her dish lacks cheese. Kyle is called up for his meatloaf. Although his presentation is beautiful his dish lacks seasoning. Shannen brings up her chicken tenders.

Neko, Rashad, and Miguel are called to the front. Rashad is a safe bit the other two will go home. All of the kids hug them goodbye.

The remaining 22 junior chefs will now get into groups as they work on banana splits. Each team needs to make as many splits as possible in 15 minutes. The catch- they all attached a the ankle to one another.

Three of the chefs have secured a spot up on the balcony and do not have to compete. The competition begins. The chefs are trying their hardest to move fast as they are connected. The four teams try their hardest to make presentable banana splits as fast as they can. Times up. The judges assess their work. The yellow team has won the competition with 8 banana splits. They get to push the button that pours hot fudge all over the judges. All the kids laugh. Aaron is hit next with marshmallow and fudge. Christina is also bombarded with sundae toppings!

On to the next challenge, the chefs will be cooking live lobsters. They need to kill them, clean them and get all of the lobster meat. They all choose their lobsters. They have one hour.

During the cooking process, Malia cuts herself. She yells for a medic. Gordon looks at her cut. It doesn’t look good. They wrap her up and she gets back to work. She isn’t going to let it stop her.

Brielle is making a lobster pasta dish. Shannen is making lobster tacos. Kylie is making a lobster tail with orzo and asparagus.

As the eight continue to cook, Gordon reminds the judges they will see 2 more chefs go home after this challenge. They begin to plate their dishes as the chefs exempt from the challenge cheer them on. Thomas is very far behind and may end up going home. They all encourage him to move faster.

Malia brings up her dish. She has made lobster tacos with sweet potatoes. Shannen brings her plate up next. She has also made lobster tacos. Christina tastes them. The only problem is the salsa is too wet. Sadie is brought to the front. She has made a lobster cake with tortilla chips. Gordon gives it a taste. He loves it.

Jayden is brought up next with his lobster ragoons. Christina likes them but suggests he cook them more. Rashad kills it with his Caribbean jerk-style dish. Aaron loves it. Brielle also gets compliments on her dish with the exception of the cheese. Kylie thinks he has it in the bag until Gordon suggest he make his lobster more of the main star in his presentation. Gordon reminds him that two of them will be going home.

Malia wins #1 dish while Kyle, Brielle, Thomas, and Shannen are brought to the front. Kyle and Brielle are safe for now. Shannen and Thomas are headed home.
