SWAT begins tonight with Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson (Shemar Moore) stands as Daryl (Deshae Frost) has his tattoo lasered off his neck, but the good news is he only has 6 more sessions to go. Daryl continues to whine about how much it hurts, something Hondo warned him about. Hondo reminds him that no employer is looking to hire a teenager with the penal code for murder tattooed on their neck. Daryl learns Hondo used to have a tattoo of a woman’s name that he also removed. Hondo advises Daryl to cover his neck for the upcoming job interview.

Chris Alonso (Lina Esco) walks into the kitchen where Ty (Daniel Lissing) and Kira (Claire Coffee) give her food, they both smile when they realize Chris knows where everything is; meaning she is comfortable. They share exciting news as one of his sculptures was sold and he is donating all the money. Chris doesn’t know what to say when Ty tells her that if it is important to her, it is important to them. Chris wants to bring them both to the charity ball; feeling it is time to introduce both of them. Ty calls Chris back, and Kira says she wants Chris to move in with them. Chris feels being with both of them has been amazing, but living together makes things official. She heads out to work, asking for time to think about it.

LAPD arrives at a home that has an obnoxious odor complaint as they approach the house shots are fired at them and SWAT is called in. Hondo updates the team whoever is inside the house is in a firefight with unis. Dominique Luca (Kenny Johnson) informs them they are 60 seconds out. David “Deacon” Kay (Jay Harrington) tells the team, “let’s come home alive!” He says he is bringing Annie to the charity dinner, it is their first night out since the baby was born. Jim Street (Alex Russell) wants to know if Chris is bringing a “plus 2”, to which she tells them it is time. Victor Tan (David Lim) is surprised as Hondo says any friend of Chris’ is a friend of his. Black Betty approaches the gunfight.

They can’t get a read on how many people are inside but the weapons they are using are large caliber. Hondo delegates their individual duties as they prepare to breach the house. They break the windows and toss in smoke grenades, causing several men to come out; one, however, attacks Deacon. Luca uses his taser, which has no effect. Tan sprays pepper spray on him to no avail so Hondo jumps in, able to throw him to the ground. Jim wonders what the hell the guy is on. Deacon assures Hondo he is okay but took some of the sprays and needs to get checked out.

Hondo, Luca and Tango in to clear the house, figuring out it is a 1-9er stash house; finding at least $50Gs worth of PCP there, called “rocket fuel.” Hondo worries the next suspect may be armed when hopped up on this stuff.

Jessica Cortez (Stephanie Sigman) tells Hondo he was right about the drugs; it is pure PCP. Deacon says the lab got a recipe and it is identical to a recipe created by a suspect 20 years ago. Deacon shows the team LaRoyce Jaekwon aka Chef J, is the PCP street chemist. Tan reminds them that he disappeared a week before Narcotics could take them down as Hondo says the rumor was he ghosted LA than with duffel bags full of cash. Hondo tells everyone to keep their phones close because until they find out where the next batch of Rocket Fuel is coming from, they are on high alert.

Street grabs some cold water to put on his head, saying one of the gang members smacked him right in the ear. Chris tells him the best medicine for that is tequila but she doesn’t recommend it on-duty. Jim jokes that he is her confession booth when she wants to run something by him; she tells him what Ty and Kira proposed to her. He knows it is major as she tells him they are awesome and being with them is better than anyone on one relationship, but they are still getting married. He is really glad Chris is happy now but after the honeymoon, what will she be to them? Jim receives a call about fraudulent charges, asking them to email him a list of the charges. He doesn’t have a credit card, telling Chris he thinks this could be his mother, asking if they can talk about her relationship later.

Victor tells Hondo there is an LAPD officer who can help, named Ben Mosley. Hondo wants to know how Victor got hooked up with a 90s narco. Victor says his parents told him that his cousin, Z died when he was 10. His parents always told him, he died in a car accident, but it never made sense. In high school he looked up the death certificate and it was Mosley, the cop who signed it. He found out his cousin was an addict and it was Mosley who discovered his body in an alley, overdosed on rocket fuel. It was his cousin that motivated him to join the LAPD and Mosley has a file on Chef J. Hondo tells Victor to grab another team member and find out what Mosley has to say.

Tan takes Deacon and Ben Mosley is happy to see him. Immediately he dives into the case, opening a filing cabinet; revealing that Chef J was very protective of his rocket fuel, anyone he found stealing or imitating it turned up dead. Chef J bought off the neighborhood so no one would testify against him and he had a record label but it went bankrupt after he disappeared. Mosley shows them an article he cut out about PC-Pak, it talks all about cooking rocket fuel and dodging police; bragging about Chef J backing his music career. He listened to the music and PC-Pak rapped about Rascher pickles, one of the ingredients for Chef J’s PCP.

Hondo is at his mother’s (Debbie Allen), who is impressed with his cooking. Daryl comes in throwing his bag onto the table. Charice wants to know what is wrong, as Hondo orders him to pick up the bag and calm down, then explain what went on. Daryl talks about the interview, but the manager only kept bringing up his arrest record. Hondo reminds him he is a juvenile felon and he can’t expect people to not ask about it; but he has to keep knocking on doors until someone opens it. Daryl doesn’t want to eat, Hondo telling him starving is another great choice. Hondo asks his mom if they can trade him in for a pit bull from the pound. Charice encourages him to give Daryl some time.

At HQ, Hondo is angrily beating the punching bag when Jim tells him that he thinks he knows where his mother is. He reveals he got a fraud alert, showing him the charges for the past few days. Hondo worries it might be a predator, telling him not to cancel the card and the next time a charge shows up Jim is to leave and track it down. Deacon calls them in to see something..

Tan and Deacon play the rap video, introducing them to Peter Watkins aka PC-Pak, who has priors for possession and concealed weapons. Hondo and Jessica both believe he knows too much about Chef J, observing how expensive his stuff is. Deacon reveals they are laying low, but Jessica says this rapper is the best connection they have. Hondo tells Jim that he is up as he asks if any of them heard his demo tape.

Outside PC-Pak’s place, several members have guns; but Luca disarms the alarm and LAPD rush in, telling them to drop their weapons as they have a warrant for Peter Watkins. PC-Pak comes out, ordering them to not get blood on his driveway and for them to drop their weapons as this is LAPD SWAT. Hondo asks him about Chef J, after clearing the house, Hondo wants to know why no one knows Peter’s real name. He says they are only thugs he pays to be his boys; talking about how his mother made him take lessons, even though they were flat broke.

Peter reveals he only knows so much about Chef J because he did a research paper on him. He explains the hired guns is because a couple of days prior several men barged in ordering him to stop rapping about Chef J or they would slice his mother’s throat and then kill him. He canceled his tour dates, dropped the phones and hired the posse. They guys who came in were Old School Ogs with prison tats. Tan says until this is verified he is coming downtown; he is okay with it because he is tired of beginning hard.

Jessica informs them that Byron Reid aka Chipper, has some pull on the street and he likes to kill his rivals by shooting an entire clip into their face; so their funerals are closed caskets. According to gang, intel Chipper runs the block.

SWAT begins to roll into the area, a spotter shoots a flare into the air, warning them for what is about to happen. Hondo shouts that they are running for their guns and Luca body slams one of them into a car. Chris shoots another one, while Jim arrests him. Deacon and Hondo chase Chipper, who throws an elderly lady out of her apartment. He slams the door and shoots his shotgun at him; Hondo breaks the window as a furious Deacon kick in the door. Chipper drops the gun and raises his hands.

Chipper is told if he doesn’t give up J he is going back to a box in Folsom for a very long time. Chipper suggests they book him before the prison runs out of dinner. Jim takes off when he gets an alert as Hondo tells Tan that Mosley got them this far they need to go back.

Jim knocks at the door, revealing he is the real Jim Street and he has a gun and badge. The man, Matt Colton who opens the door, says he never seen Jim’s mother before and got the credit card for $500.00. Jim wants a name and description. He is told her name is Tina, in her 20s who had a tattoo. Tina says she stole the card from a truck driver. Matt admits he has served time for possession but no felonies; complaining that he got addicted to pills, lost his house. Jim tells him to get out before he changes his mind.

Deacon and Chris look at all the spots that had violent PCP incidences in the last 24 hours. Luca comes in, saying Chipper stole a hearse from a funeral home with a 50-gallon tube of embalming fluid. Tan introduces Mosley to everyone, all needing his first-hand knowledge of the case. Mosley looks at the names of Chipper’s prison visitors, Kendra Reid immediately pops out. He picked her up for questioning in 1999 and is a known associate of J and her brother is a known gang enforcer, Byron Reid. They suspected that J had Kendra buy properties in her name. Victor looks her up, her priors go back 20 years, they find a dozen properties for assets. Mosley is certain if Chef J is back in town, he is definitely back in her bed!

Victor reveals that he went to his aunt and uncle’s place, admitting he knows how Z died. He couldn’t promise to catch the guy who killed him, but Mosley says he is going to if he gets his ass out there. Meanwhile, Daryl is stopped by Jarius (Nicholas Stewart), suggesting he hops in to go to a house party; when he declines they show a girl in the backseat who entices him.

Hondo sees his mother walking with Jessica, wanting to know what she is there; but Jessica chastises him for never showing her where he worked. Jessica leaves them, as Charice realizes him and Jessica were together, wanting to know what was wrong with her. She says she hasn’t heard a peep from Daryl; Hondo feels he needs to be better at checking in. She reminds him of how many nights she stayed up worrying about him as he was no angel. She tried to put herself in Hondo’s shoes, saying this is all about being a parent. She promises to contact him if she hears from Daryl. She thinks him and Jessica would make really cute grandbabies.

Jessica talks with Deacon and Tan, reviewing the properties but there are four with buildings still. They are located in different gang areas as Tan reveals Chef J never associated with one specific gang so he can stretch his product. Jessica thinks since the rules have changed, he probably needed a partner. They realize one of the houses that are listed as a daycare center which has a basement. Deacon is angry that Chef J is sick enough to cook this stuff around a bunch of kids. Victor tells him to make sure he brings his gas mask.

Surveillance is set up in the area when Jessica spots a white van in the area; Luca, Jim, and Deacon rush around the building spotting two suspects carrying the drum into the building. Jessica says they need to get those kids out, she is going in as a civilian as those kids need to be evacuated before SWAT goes in. She tries to talk to the teacher but then reveals that she is with LAPD and they need to get out. Jessica is told that she didn’t have a choice when they showed up two months ago. She nods that Chef J is there and Jessica tells the kids they are going on a field trip; escorting the kids out right away. Hondo tells Deacon the kids are evacuated and they have the green light.

Jim and Deacon take down two suspects as the teacher counts the children, realizing one is missing. She walks into the basement asking for help as her teacher and friends are all gone. J is alerted that cops are outside, he grabs his gun, telling the little girl to stay with him, he will take care of her. They dump the drums when J tells them to “light it up.” Hondo tells the team there is a girl inside, but the building explodes, Jessica calls in the explosion but Hondo says the LAFD is not going inside while their wanted suspect is there.

Chris has eyes on the suspects from the second floor, they have the girl but she is choking on the gas. SWAT takes down everyone but J who has the little girl, Hondo grabs her when Tan shoots Chef J in the leg. Hondo tells Tan they have the girl and to move but Tan walks towards him, drops a flash grenade, rips off J’s mask asking if he remembers his cousin; pointing his gun to his face.

Hondo brings the girl out safely but he tells Jessica he doesn’t know where Tan is, he lost him inside. He orders Tan to respond and eventually he comes out with Chef J in custody. Hondo nods at him just as he gets a message from his mother, informing him that Daryl has been arrested.

Jessica thanks everyone for their donations to the Fallen Heroes Fund, so far they have raised $150,000; everyone drinking to the heroes. Luca and Deacon are introduced to Ty and Kira. Luca knows that Ty is a painter, mentioning that his house needs a new coat. He is only joking, saying his paintings are awesome. Tan toasts Mosley, who is happy to catch up with old timers. Mosley is proud of Tan, even though he says they could never do this without him.

Chris grows concerned when Street isn’t at the party. Deacon’s daughter, Lila approaches her, learning that the couples she came in with are her boyfriend and girlfriend. She is confused that someone could be in love with a boy and a girl at the same time. Lila is told by Annie not to ask her so many questions, but Chris says she is okay with it. Annie tells Chris this is a conversation for another day, telling Chris she is being too honest but doesn’t want her kids to be… Chris demands an answer as Annie says she doesn’t want her kids subjected to a lifestyle she doesn’t agree with. Annie feels she is free for her to live her life anyway but she doesn’t want her kids to think living a threesome is a normal life and doesn’t want to get into the feelings. She confesses if she knew Chris was in this type of relationship, she never would have made her Victoria’s godmother. Deacon walks up, promising to talk to his wife.

Street is drinking a beer when Chris walks in to join him at home. She asks him if they are going to talk or drink. Daryl is brought to Hondo, advising Daryl to be quiet. Daryl was at a house party with alcohol and drugs, but he blew clean. Jim knows his mom was never going to win Parent of the year award and never was a mother to him at all. He worries that he pushed her to a place she cannot come back from. Chris reminds him that he is one of the most caring guys she’s met. She is forced to admit that she left Ty and Kira at the fundraiser; Jim asks how a fight works with throuples. Chris reveals she got into it with Annie. He would love to meet Ty and Kira but didn’t want to bring the mood down. Chris hugs him before she leaves, thanking him for always having her six. Jim and Chris end up kissing; Jim apologizes and Chris feels it is her fault because she drank too much. She rushes off for an Uber, saying she is good.

Chris returns home where Ty and Kira were extremely worried about her. She tells them her answer is yes, she will move in with them. Daryl and Hondo talk, Hondo telling him for getting busted for tagging a minimart. They ran from the cops; surprising Daryl that he used to tag. He says even if his mother was going to kill him if she found out, he learned how to say “no”; something he needs to learn before it is too late. Hondo says his boys won’t judge him for wanting to get his life straight if they are real friends. Hondo makes a deal with Daryl that if he ever finds himself in a situation like that again to call Hondo.

THE END!
