The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers reveal that fans have mixed feelings about the show’s baby bombshell. It seems obvious that some trickery has gone down, so Beth should be revealed as alive and well down the road. Dr. Reese Buckingham (Wayne Brady) appears to have pulled off a swap scheme, but Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle) and Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) believe she’s dead and gone.
Of course, this has been a huge event for the CBS soap. Beth’s “death” was the main story for B&B’s 8,000th episode, so The Bold and the Beautiful really wanted to highlight this drama. Some viewers were thrilled to see some soapy action. Others just aren’t feeling the grim twists.
Was it right to let Hope and Liam’s baby “die” or should the show have taken another route? Let’s examine the situation from a few different angles. For starters, we can’t ignore the fact that something fresh and exciting happened. Faked deaths and baby switches happen a lot on soaps, but The Bold and the Beautiful is usually the most realistic of the bunch. It’s nice to see them lean into the soapiness.
B&B tends to use verbal confrontations as their primary source of drama. They throw in a gunshot or some sort of tumble every so often, but arguments are their bread and butter. That’s fine, but sometimes it’s great to shake things up with something more gripping. This Catalina Island chaos left us interested and invested in what the characters are going through.
All of this is certainly giving the actors some excellent material as well. The key players are sure to get some solid Daytime Emmy reel material out of this, especially since there are even more emotional scenes to come. That said, we have to look at the flip side. Some viewers don’t approve of the dead baby direction and feel like it’s just too gloomy to watch.
If you prefer more fun on your soaps, you’re probably not digging this at all. If you’re a big fan of Hope, you may not be loving it either. Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) finally got her happy bundle of joy to make up for her earlier miscarriage. Hope also had a miscarriage, so where’s her light at the end of the tunnel? It’s coming, but not before some extreme heartache.
To make matters worse, Steffy will likely end up adopting this baby. Steffy will have her happiness and take Hope’s, too! This will inevitably tear Hope and Liam’s marriage apart all while they miss out on their precious first months with their child. They could even miss a year or more depending on how long this story takes.
This storyline is both thrilling and morbid, so it’s easy to see why there are fans on both sides of this battle. Do you like the “dead” baby shocker and all the twists it’ll bring? Do you think Liam and Hope deserved to take a blissful baby home instead?
