Tonight on FOX their new medical drama The Resident airs with an all-new Monday, January 21, 2019, episode and we have your The Resident recap below. As Mina and Bell work to get to the bottom of what went wrong, Devon distracts himself with another patient who’s experiencing mysterious stomach pains. Meanwhile, Nic forms a bond with her new partner at the clinic and Conrad’s relationship with the Barnett family continues to grow”

Conrad brings supplies to Nic and Mina at the free clinic. It is the day of the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Meanwhile, news reports around the city share the news that Lane Hunter was found dead in her hotel room. She was shot twice.
Devon and Bradley make plans to hang out tonight. Bell meets with Gordon in the lobby. Bradley is also waiting to meet with Bell. They all attend a meeting where Bradley speaks. During his presentation, he falls to the ground. They call 911. Bell brings Bradley to Chastain. Devon works to save his life but has trouble. He can’t get his heart started again but in denial keeps working. Conrad has to show him he is gone.
Bell goes down to see what Bradley’s autopsy says. He learns that Bradley had a device for his heart made by Gordon’s company. Bell tells Gordon who tells him it cannot come out. They plan to blame it on operator error. Later, when Bradley’s case comes up for review in front of the hospital heads, Bell tells them that his case will not be discussed.
Conrad gives Devon a case that will take his mind off of things. He enters the room to meet a female patient with pain in the abdomen. She doesn’t know why. She tells him about a past failed pregnancy and a failed marriage. He plans to help her.
Nic and Shaw meet with a new male patient who needs a chest x-ray. Meanwhile, Bell gets threatened by a higher up about Bradley’s case being a possible surgical error. Bell walks into a room to find Mina, Devon, and Conrad who all wants answers on Bradley’s death. Bell insinuates that AJ could be to blame for Bradley’s surgery. Mina heads to see AJ to tell him the news. He explodes and throws a light into the wall.
AJ tracks down Bell who is with Gordon. He has the autopsy report and knows it is not his fault but the faulty valve. Gordon continues to blame AJ. In fact, he has notes from Julian who was in the surgery and recorded that AJ implanted it backward. AJ is determined to get down to the bottom of this. He leaves the room. Bell tells Gordon he cannot smear AJ’s name unless he has more proof.
Nic and Shaw discover their patient might have PVD. Meanwhile, Conrad is having lunch with his young patient who has begun to do a strange head nod. He tells Conrad it isn’t a seizure.
Bell and Gordon meet with Mina to ask her about AJ’s surgery. Mina comments that AJ has always done what he wants.
Devon discovers his patient has an abscess in her ovaries. He brings her in for an examination. She screams in pain after he touches her. She may need surgery.
Nic tries to show the granddaughter of her patient how to help clean his abscess.
AJ meets with Abe to tell him how he is being blamed. Abe advises him to own his mistake if he made one.
In surgery, Devon realizes that his patient has been having issues because she has a surgical sponge in her.
Nic talks with her patient’s granddaughter about helping him. She admits her mother was a nurse and she wonders if she could be the same.
AJ sits outside the OR. He isn’t performing surgery today. Mina gives him a pep talk to make him change his mind.
Shaw thinks Nic is making a mistake by letting their PVD patient go home. She shows him she is right as they watch his granddaughter redress his wound.
Conrad and Devon tell his patient about the sponge. She is upset but thankful to know now what has been wrong all of this time.
Conrad, Henry, and his mom come to the clinic just as Shaw asks Nic out to dinner. Shaw is confused and thinks they are a family. Henry’s mom corrects Shaw, telling him that Nic and Conrad are together.
Mina confronts Bell, telling him that AJ has benched himself. He was supposed to protect him and he didn’t. Mina warns that she will get down to the bottom of it.
Mina, Devon, Nic, and Conrad all get together to share pizza and look at pics of Bradley they have. Meanwhile, Bell tells the coroner that Bradley died of heart disease. She adds that to the death certificate.
