QuoVadis is dead! The company had to fold once its CEO confessed to attempted murder and tried to flee the country. There was no way that the company was ever going to rise from the dead and so it was finally time for the doctors at Chastain to deal with the consequences. They had relied on a shady business and put several patients at risk, but Bell wanted to get ahead of the PR disaster and he asked someone who knew the company to come in. He got in contact with Julian Booth and she talked about QuoVadis. How it relied on products made overseas that were unreliable and how they tried to cover it up. Julian discussed what she had seen while working at QuoVadis and she assured everyone that they couldn’t have known the company or its CEO was so corrupt.

Bell thanked Julian for reassuring everyone and he didn’t mind that the Board of Directors were there to see him take charge in a crisis but inviting Julian to come to talk at the hospital had come as a surprise to those like Devon. Devon was convinced that she had been murdered. He thought QuoVadis had sent people after her and killed. He even talked to his friends believing the same. They all thought Julian was dead and for a while so did Bell. Bell had come around to the idea when they found out that QuoVadis was willing to kill people and so the fact he learned Julian was alive was something that should have been shared with the group. It was good news for people who got to know her and had liked her. And it was especially great for Devon.

Devon had called off his wedding because he had feelings for Julian. She was it for him and after he realized it he couldn’t go ahead with marrying another woman. Devon broke up with Priya and had then tried to reach Julian. She couldn’t answer the phone because that had been the night she was run off the road, but at any time she could have at least said she was alive and so Devon wanted to know why she hadn’t? Why didn’t she contact him the second something happened with QuoVadis? He caught up with Julian when she went to leave and he confronted her. He asked her for an explanation and she actually had one. Julian didn’t know he canceled his wedding or that he broke up with Priya and so she had no reason to contact him.

The last time they saw each other they had shared a kiss that wasn’t supposed to happen. Julian thought that Devon had ignored what the kiss could mean and carried out marrying his college sweetheart. Therefore, when she thought her life was in danger and went on the road, she didn’t think “ooh, let me call Devan”. She was more focused on swimming for her life and then hiding out at her parents. Julian only came out of hiding because she was sure that she was no longer in danger and so she was willing to catch up with Devon. They went back to his place because he needed to give her back her cat and they both realized something. They still cared about each other and so one thing led to another. They slept together and Devon thought it was the start of something but it wasn’t.

Julian had to burst that bubble because she wasn’t sure about anything in her life. Everything she believed and thought she was working towards had turned out to be false. Julian lost friends, her career, and she lost her peace of mind. She had been truly scared about Quovadis finding her that it took Conrad’s dad, Marshall, offering a guarantee to make her leave her parents but rushing out of Devon’s place was something she regretted. Julian wasn’t sure when she was going to be ready for her relationship and she kicks herself for not saying that before they slept together. Julian thought that would be it and she was all ready to leave Atlanta when she was approached by Marshall again. He was leaving Chastain to go fill the gape in medical devices and he needed someone with Julian’s experience.

Julian was scared about taking the offer, but she went back to Devon and finally got around talking about the important things. Like how they should slowly develop their relationship. They began by going to dinner later that night and they even discussed Marshall’s offer. Devon thought she should take it because he knew that Marshall was a great businessman and that the man’s eyes had been opened by the whole thing with QuoVadis. So he didn’t think Julian should shy away from what she knew best. She knew how QuoVadis should have been run and so she could at least someone that cares. Marshall was about reviving a business industry that took a hit and he wasn’t afraid to walk away from the hospital because he knows that he’s in a much better place with his son.

Conrad, on the other hand, wasn’t sure about how he felt now that his father was leaving the hospital. He understands that Marshall only joined the board to get close to him and hey it worked. They now talk more openly with each other and their relationship is the best its ever been, but something about Marshall leaving the hospital had triggered old emotions for Conrad. He told Nic that it felt like his father was leaving him again and he didn’t want to go. Conrad had thought that his girlfriend would know what to say and she didn’t much help what with her family being at the hospital. Her sister Jessie was feeling so unwell that she was released from rehab so that she could get checked by a doctor and unfortunately Jessie came to Chastain with her dad.

Kyle Nevin was an all-around flake. He left his eldest daughter to Nic to raise her baby sister and then checks in every now and then to pretend like he’s a father. He used that schtick to get a meeting with Marshall and had tried to trade on their children’s relationship to get Marshall to invest in his latest company, but Marshall was forced to turn him down and soon news got back to Nic. She confronted her father about being a horrible dad and she wanted him to leave the hospital because she wasn’t sure if he was truly there for Jessie. He said he was and he fought to stay at the hospital. He said that this time was different and that he was truly concerned about Jessie. She’s been several relapses and now she was ill.

Nic allowed Kyle to stay, but she dreaded telling Conrad what happened because they both knew they weren’t in a good place. Conrad was ready to settle down and he wanted to live together. He just couldn’t convince Nic it was a good idea because she was sure if she wanted to settle down with him while she had feelings for Alec. Alec was handsome and charming. He also worked in close proximity to Nic at the free clinic and so they’ve gotten to know each other. Nic also developed a slight crush even if she wasn’t willing to admit it and that’s why she couldn’t judge any other relationship. Like Devon and Julian ’s or Mina and Micah’s! One was going slowly and the other was discussing marriage.

Neither position that Nic was in or ready to take and so she told Alec to back off because she loved Conrad, but really she did it because it was safe.

THE END!
