The Young and the Restless spoilers review for Friday, December 20, tease that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will see Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) at the Grand Phoenix and will hope that they can spend some time together, but Chelsea will need to do some shopping for Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). Adam will be crest fallen and they’ll decide to talk about presents for Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) later.
Meanwhile, Nick and Summer Newman (Hunter King) will chat at Nick’s place, and Summer will wonder what’s going on with Chelsea these days. Nick will explain how Chelsea’s staying at Adam’s for Connor’s sake, but Summer will warn Nick about how Adam doesn’t respect boundaries. She’ll be in the middle of griping about Chelsea when Chelsea walks in. Awkwardness will ensue, and Summer will leave Nick and Chelsea alone.
Chelsea will then apologize to Nick for all she’s put him through, saying that none of it has been fair to him. She’ll be in the middle of saying how she’s missed him like crazy when he interrupts her with a passionate kiss. They’ll make love, then Chelsea will give Nick his present – a framed picture of their dream home. They’ll look to the future and declare that they haven’t given up on each other.
Next, at Adam’s penthouse, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) will have another session with Connor. She’ll gently confront Connor about his lies, and he’ll say that he got in trouble and lost his video games for a month. She’ll wonder why he lied, and he’ll explain that he thought it would make his move, dad, and him be together, which makes him happy.
Adam will return home and hear from Sharon about Connor’s apology, and she’ll share with him a picture that Connor drew of the three of them fighting a monster together. She noted that the monster was smaller than in his previous pictures, so that’s progress. But she’ll express concern that Adam and Chelsea aren’t being honest with Connor about their relationship status, and she’ll suggest that they broach the subject with him soon. Adam will disagree.
Later, Adam will dream that Chelsea returns home and tells him that she loves him and wants to be a family with him and Connor. He’ll wake up alone and sad, and when Chelsea really comes home, he’ll try to talk with her about Connor, but she’ll want to wait until tomorrow to talk about it, since she’s beat. She’ll then go upstairs, and Adam will stand alone in the living room, unhappy.
The more things unfold between Chelsea, Adam, and Connor, the more alike Adam and Connor seem. They both have a manipulative streak, and while it’s true that Connor has suffered some serious losses and trauma, he’s still a manipulative little guy and one wonders whether Chelsea’s relationship with Nick will survive all of their tactics to keep her at the penthouse.
Next, on the new episode of Y&R on Friday, December 20, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) will continue his conversation with Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) at Crimson Lights. Elena will ask him to help find out what Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) is hiding, but Nate will refuse. They’ll bicker until Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) arrives and pulls Elena aside. He’ll reveal that he knows that she knows about the dossier.
Devon and Elena will discuss the dossier, and Nate will walk up and overhear that a private investigator is involved, and he’ll be upset. He won’t be interested in hearing the low-down on Amanda, but finally he’ll relent, and Devon will fill him in on Amanda hiring someone to erase her internet presence and the restraining orders. Nate will insist that it’s not his business, and that they didn’t know all the facts.
Devon will then blast Nate for not taking the dossier findings seriously and he’ll accuse Nate of being more concerned about Amanda than about him. Nate will get miffed and say that he was going to pretend that he didn’t hear that and walk off. Later, back at the penthouse, Elena and Devon will regroup and declare their love as well as their mutual desire to find out more about Amanda.
It’s looking more and more like Amanda is running from an abusive ex who might have been stalking her, so it’s likely that the more Devon and Elena dig into her past, the more danger Amanda could be in. They could ultimately end up being responsible for her ex/stalker finding out where Amana is and coming to Genoa City, which would be a disaster.
Finally, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will have a strained conversation at Society. Phyllis will gripe to Jack about her firing and about Adam’s insulting request, although she won’t tell Jack the details of that request. Jack will basically shrug off her problems and accuse her of being a woman scorned, which she’ll take issue with…loudly Ultimately, Jack will tell Phyllis to get out of her own way and live her life rather than worry about getting revenge on Adam.
