The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that a mystery baby will appear on the Newman ranch. Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will don her riding outfit and head out to the stables, where she’ll apparently find this little one. Soon after, Nikki will come running back inside with the bundle of joy in tow. She’ll show Victor Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) a beautiful baby girl, who was left on the property in a basket.
Nikki will wonder who would abandon a baby on Christmas, so we have to ask that question as well. Who abandoned this little girl – and why leave her on the Newman ranch? Let’s consider some suggestions that Y&R fans have posed and perhaps debunk a few popular theories.
Some viewers seem convinced this baby will be the product of a hookup between Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Rebekah Barlow (Jennifer Taylor). She was a Jabot consultant that Nick had a fling with back in April. The timing fits – but not much else! Rebekah didn’t want anything more than sleeping together casually, but that doesn’t mean she’d just dump her child at the Newman ranch.
Rebekah was a successful executive, so she could’ve easily paid nannies to help her raise this child alone. Nick never would’ve had to know. Plus, new Y&R info for 2020 doesn’t drop any baby-related hints for Nick, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) or Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). There would surely be some clue about something turning Nick and Chelsea’s life upside down if this kid were Nick’s.
Of course, that could mean it’s not Adam’s child either. It would’ve been interesting if this were Spider’s baby from his time in Vegas, but The Young and the Restless spoilers don’t point in that direction. We’ll just see the Chelsea battle heat up in the coming months, and Adam’s not going to stop until he gets the woman he wants.
Other Y&R fans suspect Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton) could be the “baby daddy.” The theory suggests that Dylan might’ve hooked up with a woman in witness protection, and she left the baby with his biological mother, Nikki. However, that requires a lot of leaps. Dylan hopefully wouldn’t be spilling anything about his true identity to anyone now that he’s living a brand-new life.
Unless this woman knew Dylan before he was in the program and then reconnected with him, how would she know to take the kid to the Newmans? Not to mention Dylan has been brushed under the rug for the most part. The show seemingly has no plans to recast, so why bother giving Dylan a child on canvas? None of it quite adds up.
Other Young and the Restless watchers think Noah Newman (Robert Adamson) could be a “baby daddy” contender. It’s possible Noah knocked someone up, but wouldn’t the mom want some of that sweet Newman cash? Why just ditch the baby instead of trying to milk the kid for all she’s worth?
Some viewers have even suggested Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) as a secret teen mom, but that theory can definitely be debunked since Faith’s only been at boarding school since September. She’s also just now testing the waters with boys, so romance isn’t really even a thing for her yet.
One final theory involves this potentially being Fenmore “Fen” Baldwin’s (Zach Tinker) daughter, but why would the “baby mama” leave her with the Newmans? Tinker’s visit is only short-term, so Fen doesn’t seem like a great answer to the baby mystery. That seems like a theory that can be shut down, too.
So what does all this mean? It tells us Y&R will either deliver a far-fetched plot to make a wild theory fit OR the baby’s random after all. Maybe the mother just knew the Newmans were a prominent family in town. She might’ve left the kid there because she knew they’d take care of her – or would at least find her at caring home.
Whatever the case, it’ll be fun to watch Nikki and Victor tackle this baby crisis together! The Young and the Restless spoilers say some hot drama’s looming, so don’t miss what’s in store.
