It is the last quarter-finals, only eleven acts are coming up and five will survive. The finale is in three weeks. Tonight, judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara are back. Simon Cowell is still out, recovering from a broken back.

The first act tonight is C.A. Wildcats, they are a Cheerleading Group from Dallas, Texas. They are looking at being the main attraction, they are made up of twenty-nine members from thirteen to thirty. No matter how many times they fall, they get back up.

Judges Comments: Heidi: “Wildcats, what an amazing job you guys did. You are so full of energy, you guys are like a soda that you shake and explode. I love you guys.” Howie: “I agree, it was very exciting and everything and they were amazing. I love watching you, and I think that cheer has to be front and center. The question I have for this performance, was it better, did you up it from last time?” Sofia: “I think they were amazing, the energy they bring to the stage is unbelievable. What you guys do is not easy, the training, you are athletes. I understand how hard and difficult it is, and I do think you did a better job than the first time, no matter what Howie says.”

Kenadi Dodds is 15 years old, a singer and guitarist from Salt Lake City, Utah. Her dream is to be a country superstar, one of her biggest inspirations is her little sister Alexis; she is like a little shadow that follows her everywhere. Alexis has an eye disease and may lose all her vision eventually. Tonight Kenadi is singing the song she wrote for her.

Judges Comments: Heidi: “I think you are great, I think you did a fantastic job. No matter what happens tonight or tomorrow, I do believe that the music world will be calling for you. I love the bond you have with your sister, it is beautiful.” Howie: “I am just going to be totally honest, I love you and I think you are an amazing talent, and I love the bond with your sister. I have to be honest, that song didn’t do it for me personally.” Sofia: “I think you are being very negative today Howie, I think she was amazing, spectacular. I like the first song better, but I think this one was beautiful and your story is fantastic.”

Lightwave Theatre Company is between the ages of 32 and 35, they are a puppeteer act from Romania. They have been pushed far behind because of the pandemic, they have not had much time to prepare. Halfway into their performance, Howie hits the red buzzer and Sofia gives him a nasty look.

Judges Comments: Howie: “I found it very depressing. This is the last episode before we go into the semi-finals and I love it when what you did with the dog and the puppets the first time, but it was the same puppets and same dog, with a very depressing message.” Heidi: “The message is doing something nice for someone else, right now we have to be there for each other. I know it is sad, but we are all cooped up in our spaces right now and there are people who are alone. I think it sends a nice message out there.” Sofia: “I agree with Heidi in the sense that it is a beautiful story, but I do have to say that it was better the first time. I know that there were challenges.”

Resound are ages twenty-six to thirty and they are a Vocal Harmony Trio from Richmond, VA. Before AGT they made a big risk, they quit their jobs and started music full-time. All of their gigs were canceled because of the pandemic and they almost gave up. Then they received so many messages from people who said that their music gave them hope and joy.

Judges Comments: “It was so beautiful, you guys coming into tonight, you set a bar. Your harmonies are beautiful and you are beautiful people as human beings. I don’t know if you gave us more.” Sofia: “I thought it was fantastic, your voices are amazing, I have nothing bad to say and I loved it.” Heidi: “I loved it too, what is not to love. You are three beautiful people with three beautiful voices. It was absolutely amazing, you have this light around you when you sing like three angels.”

Divas & Drummers of Compton are ages three to twenty. They are a Dance & Percussion Group from Los Angeles. Their coach tells them that their performance will show that hard work pays off; millions of children will be inspired by them.

Judges Comments: Heidi: “Incredible, I love the choreography and your energy. I loved your speech, I wish we had more people like you, I am inspired by you.” Howie: “So far this has been my favorite act of the night, and I love the whole production.” Sofia: “My favorite act of the night definitely, you are guys are so inspiring, uplifting, your speech was better than the performance and I wish you all the luck in the world.”

Celina Graves is thirty-years-old and a singer from San Diego, California. She says that music is always what she could turn to, it didn’t judge her. She spends hours and hours singing, and it makes her happy. She always imagined herself on a stage and the crowd cheering, but she didn’t think she would be accepted because of the way she dresses.

Judges Comments: Sofia: “I honestly think you are the highlight of the night. Flawless, the song, the way you look. If I had a golden buzzer I would give it to you.” Heidi: “I can see that you have prepared your entire lifetime for this and you nailed it. You really did, it was beautiful.” Howie: “I agree with everything that they are saying. I think that as a singer on this show though, you need to step up your game. I think when America votes they are going to remember you, your style, and your sound.”

Noah Epps is twelve years old, he is a dancer from Virginia. Tonight he is bringing a new character to the stage, this one he got from arcades and scary movies. This is the first time he is performing this character, he is nervous but excited.

Judges Comments: Heidi: “You are so good, you are like a top-notch solo dance performer. It is hard to do this all by yourself. I think you are incredible, I loved it, well done.” Sofia: “You know what I loved the most about you is that you have this strong sense of what you want to do, you creating and have the vision of what you want to do.”

Alex Hooper is thirty-five years and a Stand-up Comedian from Baltimore, Maryland. He understands that what he does is somewhat controversial, but he won’t stop until he is holding a cheque for a million dollars on the AGT stage.

Judges Comments: Howie: “I loved the pain and the hurt. You are brilliant, you work the room, I think it is funny, I love this kind of comedy, I was a huge Don Rickles fan. You are the new Don Rickles, you are great, and I love the book, we should sell it online.” Sofia: “My problem is not with Alex, it is with Howie. He has been so negative all night and then this guy comes and destroys us and he is clapping. I have to say it is funny, you are horrific, you are so mean I want to press the buzzer.” Heidi: “Roses are red, violets are blue, some people are funny, not sure about you.”

An act this week could not perform, so another act is given a chance of fulfilling their dream. This act is Broken Roots, they are thirty-seven and forty-four years old, Singers and Guitarists from Chicago, Illinois. Music brought them together and their first appearance on AGT was the first time they sang together. When they found out they were not going through they were devasted and can’t believe they were given a second chance.

Judges Comments: Sofia: “I am so excited that you guys are here, it is a good surprise. I hope tonight brings good things for you guys, you remind me of all American good men, I wish you the best.” Howie: “Great that you have this opportunity, you rose to the occasion. My question is this AGT talent or coffee house performance.” Heidi: “It was tough telling you guys that you were not going through to the next round. You had your send chance, you used it well.”

Bello Sisters are ages fourteen to twenty-two, they are an Acrobatic Trio from Italy.

Judges Comments: Heidi: “That was beautiful to watch, it couldn’t be any better, what amazing talent in three stunning women.” Sofia: “I thought it was spectacular, you guys look spectacular, I don’t see the reason why you guys would not have your dream come true of being in Vegas, I loved it.” Howie: “I think I am going to repeat what I said the first time, I would go see you all in Vegas. You deserve a career, I think things are going to be good.”

Brandon Leake is twenty-seven years old and he is a Spoken Word Poet from Stockton, California; he was Howie’s Golden Buzzer. He writes poetry to express emotions. His performance gets a standing ovation by all three judges.

Judges Comments: Heidi: “That was powerful, I am happy that you choose this platform to talk about what you just did. I think it is so important, your spoken words, your honest words, your true words, your necessary words. Thank you, you are my favorite act of the night.” Sofia: “What a great way for us to end the night, it is something special that talent that you have. I wish you the best because I want to hear from you again, see what you bring next.” Howie: “I got to say, this is above and beyond anything I have ever seen, anything I have ever heard, especially at this time. It was so perfect, you took an older white guy and put me in the body of an African American mother just hoping that her son survives live. This is the conversation we are having now, this is the conversation America needs to have and there is no better or educational way than to hear it from you. I am so proud and you just won the whole night.”

THE END!
