Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Chandler Massey & Freddie Smith Shut Down Misleading Fall Return Promo – No Comeback for Will & Sonny

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) and Chandler Massey (Will Horton (Will Horton) recently spoke out on an episode of The Freddie and Alyssa Show, which is the podcast Smith cohosts with his fiancée, Alyssa Tabit.

Sonny and Will just exited Salem, but there’s certainly been hope that they would return based on a new fall comeback promo.

Let’s take a look at what Days of Our Lives released before we dive into what Massey and Smith had to say about it. For starters, the narration for the preview said this: “You never know who’s heading back to Days of Our Lives…”

That promo then featured Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus), Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering), Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller), JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss), Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams), Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) and Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk). All of those characters are confirmed to be coming back.

The preview clip also included Brady Black (Eric Martsolf), Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson), Jan Spears (Heather Lindell) – and all of those characters have kicked off return stints in Salem.

Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) is in the middle of her own return stint and will be back for more drama from late 2020 through most of 2021.

Evan Frears aka Christian Maddox (Brock Kelly) was featured in the promo, too. He’s surely coming back since it’d be completely bizarre to include Evan otherwise.

Plus, Days sent out a tweet that backed up the idea that this promo was all about returns. DOOL’s Twitter account said, “Among the familiar faces returning to Salem is one Belle and Shawn are especially unhappy to see – Jan Spears is back!”

That brings us to Will and Sonny, who were included in this promo as well. Naturally, this led plenty of Days of Our Lives fans to believe Sonny and Will were coming back. Why wouldn’t they be if they were featured in a fall comeback promo with a dozen other returns?!

Unfortunately, there seems to have either been some miscommunication on the show’s part or they were deliberately trying to be misleading. On The Freddie and Alyssa show, Massey and Smith acknowledged the fall comeback preview and their inclusion in it.

Sadly, neither one of them’s been contacted about returning to the show yet.

“There’s a fall preview of all the characters that are coming back,” Smith said. He mentioned the shots of Will and Sonny before Tabit noted a lot of people thought they were returning. “No, I haven’t done anything or heard anything,” Massey said. “I haven’t either,” Smith added.

It’s possible that Days just hasn’t informed Smith and Massey of their plans, although that seems pretty risky if you’re trying to craft a return arc without getting in touch with actors. Availability is certainly an issue to consider.

Bottom line, Days put out an extremely misleading promo unless Smith and Massey already shot something they’ve forgotten about – or DOOL intends to get in touch with them later.

It’s worth mentioning that Days Head Writer Ron Carlivati tweeted a bit of hope for “WilSon” fans. Carlivati said, “It may be goodbye for now, but you never know when they might pop in for a visit…”

All of this seems quite strange, so we’ll see how things play out moving forward. As other DOOL news comes in, we’ll keep bringing you updates. Days of Our Lives spoilers say the other comebacks featured in the promo will deliver tons of fall action, so there’s still some fun stuff to look forward to.
