Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that the NBC soap may deliver the ultimate twist. Salem will be turned upside down by an intentional blackout that leaves multiple prisoners on the loose, but the conclusion could bring a shocker.
Let’s recap why this mini story is happening because it could be important to how it all wraps up.
Unlike the other soaps, DOOL had plenty of episodes to air after the pandemic halted production in March. Days never had to show any reruns, but that also presented a problem since there were no sports going on either. The Olympics were postponed, so that put DOOL two weeks ahead of schedule.
If the show had just moved forward as planned, it would’ve been weird to watch. Halloween, the November 8 anniversary episode, Thanksgiving and Christmas would all have happened way too early. That’s why Days Head Writer Ron Carlivati came up with this mini story to insert after production resumed.
Here’s the thing though: Days already had 30-40 other scripts prepared. That means this inserted story can’t mess too much with what comes after it. Basically, these two weeks have to be entertaining, but they have to wrap it all up neat and tidy at the end of the arc.
That way it doesn’t throw off what they already wrote. It’s not in the budget to scrap those shows or do massive overhauls.
In a new interview with SOD, Carlivati admitted that he initially wanted to do something from the missing time jump year. However, Carlivati bounced ideas around and found that it wasn’t really working.
The writing team moved to plan B instead, but that got us thinking… Does plan B involve messing with time, too?
Think about it. The next couple of weeks are going to be total chaos with Orpheus (George DelHoyo), Clyde Weston (James Read) and Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (William Utay) causing drama.
We’ll see gun showdowns, kidnappings, deadly plots and tons of other wild stuff – things that would be hard to just pretend didn’t happen later.
That brings us to a special project that Dr. Rolf will show off during the week of October 26-30. Days of Our Lives spoilers say Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) will be floored when she sees Dr. Rolf’s newest endeavor.
It’ll be something truly groundbreaking – and Kayla will be aghast over the potential consequences of it.
What if Dr. Rolf unveils a time machine? Perhaps Dr. Rolf’s plan would be to go back in time and save Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) before his health ever declined. It’s easy to imagine Kayla or someone else fighting with Dr. Rolf over the knobs on this machine.
Maybe in the end, Dr. Rolf would fail to go back that far. Instead, Rolf might succeed in sending everyone back to right before the blackout. This night that’ll air over the next couple weeks would essentially be erased!
Everybody would go back to business as usual because none of this would ever really have happened.
Dr. Rolf might alter the space-time continuum somehow with this device – but only this one, extremely long night. In a situation like this, Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) could, for example, kill Vincent Belman (Michael Teh) and then NOT have killed him once everything rewinds.
It could also make it so something changes and the fugitives are prevented from ever escaping.
In other words, Days of Our Lives might do a different sort of time jump – one that sends them back a few hours in Salem time. Do you think that’ll be the twist at the end of this wild arc?
