Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Friday, June 5 Recap - Gwen Quizzes Claire - Ciara & Ben Help Jake - Steve Won’t Tell Kayla The Truth

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, June 5, reveal that John Black (Drake Hogestyn) was going through the mail at the penthouse when Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) walked in after a long day. Marlena explained that she had been to Bayview to see Claire Brady (Olivia Rose Keegan) and that Claire wants to be released.

John wondered if Marlena thought that Claire was ready, and Marlena said that she had met with Claire’s doctors and that Claire was making amazing progress. Turns out, Claire’s doctors suggested a supervised release but that the decision fell onto Marlena.

Marlena wanted John’s take, handing John Claire’s file. John felt favorable about the release, as did Marlena.

Marlena did caution that Claire would need to be supervised, and she wondered if Ciara Brady’s (Victoria Konefal) wedding to Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) would be a trigger for Claire. Ultimately, though, Marlena thought that Claire should be released, and she told John that the next step was getting Claire’s parents’ approval.

At Bayview, Claire sat on her bed looking at Ciara and Ben’s “save the date” card and singing the wedding march to herself. Gwen (Emily O’Brien) walked in, saying that she’d love Claire to sing for the residents again.

Snoopy Gwen noticed the “save the date” card and swiped it out of Claire’s hand. Gwen soon learned that Ciara was the girl who Claire had tried to kill, and Claire admitted that she stole the card from a therapist who knew Ben from his time at Bayview.

Gwen asked if Claire was thinking about crashing the wedding, and Claire insisted that she wasn’t the same person she used to be. Gwen said, “We all say that.” But Claire said that Ciara used to be her best friend, and that she’d love to be a bridesmaid or even the maid of honor, and that she wants to make amends.

Claire told Gwen that if things go well, then her grandmother will help her get out of Bayview soon, so that she can attend the wedding and show Ciara her support.

Gwen thought that Claire talked a good game, but maybe she really wanted to go finish what she started with Ciara. Claire took offense and said she was never coming back here. Gwen wished her luck.

At Jake Lambert’s (Brandon Barash) garage, Jake got a text asking if he had what they wanted yet, then he got a second text with a picture of a gagged Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus) saying, “She’s still alive…for now.”

At the Salem Inn, Ben and Ciara discussed their wedding attire and who Ben was going to ask to be his best man. Ciara wanted Ben to ask Will Horton (Chandler Massey) to stand up for him, but Ben balked, suggesting Jake as an option. Ciara didn’t like the sound of that, so Ben agreed to think about asking Will to be his best man.

Talk then turned to who Ciara would ask to be her maid of honor, and Ciara didn’t know who she’d ask. She said that at one time she’d have asked Claire, and she got nostalgic about missing the “old Claire.”

Jake then arrived, saying that Gabi had been kidnapped. Ciara immediately wanted to call the police, but Ben and Jake stopped her, saying that the mob was involved, and it wasn’t a good idea.

Ben suggested that since the person the mob really wanted was Jake’s ex, then they should start by finding her so they could get Gabi back. Ciara agreed to be on the case as well, since she knew Salem inside and out. Jake showed Ben and Ciara a photo of Gwen on his phone, and he said that they needed to find her before it was too late for Gabi.

Next, over at the Brady Pub, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) turned around from the bar to see Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) standing there. Kayla immediately noticed that Steve had drunk too much, and Steve sloppily said that he had something important to tell Kayla…that he didn’t have the chance to properly congratulate her on her engagement to Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth).

Steve then stumbled off his chair and Kayla caught him from falling. Kayla drove Steve to Hope Brady’s (Kristian Alfonso) house and put him in the den on the couch.

Kayla got him settled, and then Steve told Kayla that he still loved her and wanted her back. Kayla said that this changes everything, and they kissed…then Steve woke up and the reunion with Kayla had been just a dream.

Steve woke up to Hope, who said that Kayla had left as she was arriving. Steve told Hope about his dream, and Hope said that Steve could try again to talk to Kayla in the morning.

Steve refused, saying that Kayla had made a life with someone else. Hope said that they were family, and that she’d always have his back. Steve thanked her, then fell asleep on the couch.

At the DiMera mansion, Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) discussed the situation between Steve and Kayla. They rehashed Steve witnessing Justin’s proposal to Kayla, and Steve’s stubbornness in not telling Kayla how he feels.

Jack seemed to think that they should stay out of it, while Jennifer wanted to tell Kayla how Steve really feels.

Jack and Jennifer were arguing about this when Kayla arrived with a pie, having decided to join them for dinner. Kayla went up to see Abigail DiMera (Kate Mansi) and Chad DiMera’s (Billy Flynn) kids, and Jack told Jennifer not to say anything to Kayla, and that it wasn’t their place to get involved.

Kayla returned and mentioned that she had seen Steve earlier, and that he was pretty drunk and incoherent. Kayla assumed that Steve was still beating himself up over all the things he did when he was microchipped. Jennifer tried to interject something, but Jack interrupted and said that Kyle was absolutely right. Jennifer looked miffed.
