Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that the show just offered up a crucial clue about what’s next. DOOL fans know Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) has been pushing this whole “key to the city” thing ridiculously hard. The more Kate mentions it, the more obvious it becomes that this ceremony is going to be important somehow.
Kate simply wouldn’t rest until Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) and Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) both agreed to be part of all this. Since Kate was just going to keep pestering, Hope and Steve eventually relented.
However, Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) suggested that meant Steve wouldn’t be able to attend her wedding to Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth). After Kayla realized Steve was in the loop on her looming nuptials, she had offered an awkward invite. It turns out the wedding and the key to the city ceremony are on the same day.
Of course, Steve doesn’t really want to watch the love of his life marry someone else anyway, so this key to the city ceremony actually helps him out – or so it seems right now!
In reality, Days of Our Lives is likely setting up some embarrassment for Kate. There’s a good chance Steve will bail on the key ceremony to disrupt Kayla and Justin’s wedding.
With that in mind, we have to wonder what might keep Hope from attending. If Steve isn’t going to make it, then Hope probably won’t make it either. Kate might wind up fuming when no one’s there to accept this much-talked-about key to the city! It sounds like Kate will wish she’d never thought of this terrible idea.
Steve will likely be busy objecting to Kayla’s wedding and begging her not to marry Justin. What about Hope? What will she be busy doing? Let’s consider what Hope’s been focused on lately.
Although Hope’s been part of this storyline with Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) and Claire Brady (Olivia Rose Keegan), she’s also been reconnecting with Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering).
Hope shared some close moments with Rafe during David Ridgeway’s (Kyler Ends) kidnapping ordeal. Hope was also there for Rafe before the custody hearing. After Rafe lost that battle, Hope stepped up to make sure Rafe felt supported.
It’s clear that the bond between Hope and Rafe is growing stronger again. Days seems to be building to a “Rope” reunion, so that may be part of Kate’s trouble.
Will Hope lose track of time after landing in bed with Rafe? Days writers could have a hookup in store for these exes, especially after Rafe gets good news. Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) will ultimately ask Rafe if he wants to adopt her baby.
After Rafe mulls it over, he may decide this is indeed something he’d like to do. That could lead to a bedroom celebration with Hope.
Then again, Rafe might realize this is going to cause drama with Allie and her family. Will Horton (Chandler Massey) and Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) are interested in adopting his baby, so Rafe may get updates on that soon enough.
If Rafe opts out of this adoption, that could leave him seeking comfort. Hope would certainly offer it – even in bed if that’s the way the mood shifts.
Regardless, it’s easy to imagine Hope all naked and cozy with Rafe while Kate’s stuck without any key recipients! We’ll fill you in as other DOOL details pop up.
