Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that John Black (Drake Hogestyn) will finally wake up during the week of September 14-18, but his recovery won’t be smooth sailing. Naturally, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) won’t care as long as John’s going to be OK – and he will be. John just won’t be quite the same as he was before.
Let’s look at some hints Days of Our Lives Head Writer Ron Carlivati offered in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. “One of the aftereffects that can happen when you have a medical crisis is mood swings or changes in personality, and in this instance, John’s emotions are going to be very close to the surface,” Carlivati explained.
Carlivati went on to talk about Marlena standing by John through this difficult time. They’ll tackle John’s issues as a team, which is nice to know. However, it’s this next part that sounds rather ominous. “But some of his unintended outbursts may just have some bigger consequences for them,” Carlivati said about John and Marlena.
Carlivati also talked about Sami Brady’s (Alison Sweeney) surprise witness, Jan Spears (Heather Lindell) causing “collateral damage” for the people in Sami’s world.
Of course, we know Jan’s a fierce foe of Belle Black (Martha Madison) and Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer). Belle’s furious with Sami for unleashing Jan on Salem, so these stories will remain very intertwined.
Even Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) will cross paths with Jan during the week of September 14-18, which should be interesting. When crazy meets formerly crazy! Jan clearly belongs back at Shady Pines, but Claire’s genuinely recovered and probably won’t be happy to see her parents’ smug enemy.
Let’s look at the big DOOL picture here. We’ve got wildcard Jan, who’ll be causing a ton of trouble for John’s loved ones. John adores Belle and Claire, so he’ll be livid if Jan comes around stirring the pot. He won’t want Belle getting hurt or Claire being set up for a relapse by this Jan nutjob.
There’s also that collateral damage hint – and we know John’s going to have unintended outbursts with major consequences. Jan doesn’t seem to be around long-term, but something tells us she won’t leave Salem willingly!
When we add all this up, could it mean John will unleash his fury and hurt Jan in the process? Will John basically attack Jan? There’s been an awful lot of talk about Jan coming out of her coma, but Days just might put her back in one! That seems like the humorous “twist of fate” writing style that Carlivati likes.
Whatever the case, Jan will be causing serious problems for John’s family – and John will be capable of violent meltdowns due to changes in his brain. It seems like a recipe for disaster, so we wouldn’t be surprised if John’s attack indeed leaves Jan comatose again.
We’ll provide updates as other Days news becomes available. Days of Our Lives spoilers say some tough moments are coming up for John, Marlena and many of their family members, so stay tuned to DOOL.
