Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Kristian Alfonso (Hope Brady) has left the NBC soap, so her last appearance will air this October. Now that Alfonso’s done at Days, the popular DOOL star’s reflecting on her time there. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Alfonso talked about why Hope’s romance with Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) was a tough act to follow!
“Bope” had plenty of fans thanks to Reckell and Alfonso’s onscreen chemistry, but Bo and Hope’s story was just as important. Alfonso opened up about what made Hope and Bo’s relationship so special. It turns out Alfonso credits Shelley Curtis, a former producer and director at Days, for making “Bope” so memorable.
“And Shelley Curtis really is responsible for the success of Bo and Hope and so many, as they call them, ‘supercouples’ because she knew how to build a story and produce it and make people feel and get chills and sweep them away for that one hour a day,” Alfonso said.
Alfonso was later asked about her other pairings – the ones that came after Hope’s romance with Bo. The Days of Our Lives actress admitted she felt there were writing missteps. Although Alfonso saw the potential for some pairings to work, certain mistakes were difficult to come back from in her eyes.
Alfonso brought up Hope’s relationship with Aiden Jennings (Daniel Cosgrove), which she thought worked really well in the beginning. “But then they turned him to the dark side and they made him a dirty character,” Alfonso said. “I mean, even when they brought him back, how could Hope once again be with him?”
Aiden’s character shift and failed redemption were the downfall of “Haiden,” but what about Hope and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) aka “Rope”? That’s another romance that Alfonso thought started off nice enough before heading off the rails.
Alfonso argued that “the minute they had him sleep with Sami, I mean, game over, basically.” She just felt like it was “bizarre.”
