Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Matthew Ashford (Jack Deveraux) recently shared some crushing news with fans. Ashford’s beloved mother died at the age of 89, so the Days star posted a sweet Twitter message in memory of her.
Although Ashford feels grateful for the time he had with his mom, he’s been replying to supportive tweets and admitting it’s still a tough blow.
“My dear Mom, Patricia (89) just passed away while I was onstage with Wally Kurth,” Ashford said in his post. “With my Dad and sisters-she was lucid and peaceful. She was probably the first actor I ever encountered and she always encouraged me. Even when rendered speechless by stroke she could say more!”
Ashford seems to be taking comfort in the memories he has of Patricia, who was certainly a special lady. Plenty of Days of Our Lives viewers offered their condolences following Ashford’s updates – and so did some of Ashford’s costars.
There were several heartfelt messages, including ones from DOOL’s Kassie DePaiva (Eve Donovan), Linsey Godfrey (Sarah Horton) and Stephen Nichols (Steve Johnson).
Nichols was able to relate to Ashford’s pain and offered a story about when his own mother passed away. “Oh, Matt, sorry for your loss, buddy,” Nichols said. “Good to hear she went peacefully.
Losing a parent creates an unimaginable void. I lost my mom in July (93). I was able to see her and speak to her over FT the day before she passed and though she was not lucid, I know she heard me. Much love.”
Ashford had a grateful reply, but he confessed he’s feeling a bit out of body right now. There’s always a certain level of shock that comes with losing someone you love, so it can take time to reach a place of acceptance and begin the grieving process.
Fortunately, Ashford’s got tons of costars and Days fans in his corner. It often helps to share with others, so it’s good that Ashford’s able to put the word out about his mom and reflect on the great life she lived.
Ashford noted that his mom was a DOOL fan as well, so she would be glad to know the show will go on.
