Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Monday August 17 Recap - Justin's a Cowboy, Sami's a Baby Thief and Xander’s Already Fired

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, August 17, reveal that Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) sat in his living room happy to be home from his trip to the Greek Isles. “Back in the peace and tranquility of home,” Victor mused.

Suddenly, Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans) trudged in, upsetting Victor’s peace and quiet. Bonnie brought Victor a copy of her book, “Love Made Me Looney,” and Victor balked. Soon, Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) entered, revealing that Bonnie was his client.

Victor grumped about what Bonnie had done to Adrienne Kiriakis (Judi Evans), but Justin defended Bonnie, saying that Bonnie had been taken advantage of by her publisher.

Eventually, Victor left, and Justin told Bonnie that he hadn’t heard from her publisher since the press conference. Bonnie revealed that she was here to give Justin a present and handed him a big box. Justin pulled out a black cowboy hat and tried it on. Bonnie loved it.

Meanwhile, over at the Brady Pub, Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) left a voicemail message for Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold). Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) arrived to find Sami upset, and Lucas mentioned that Allie’s baby was being discharged from the hospital today.

Sami perked right up and insisted that Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker) and Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) were not going to take possession of the baby.

Sami shared that she had Belle Black (Martha Madison) working on a restraining order, and that she wanted to take the baby back to Italy with her. Lucas said there was no way that he’d let that happen, and a fierce argument ensued, with Sami slapping Lucas in the heat of the moment.

Unfazed by the slap, Lucas refused to back down, but ultimately he agreed with Sami that Nicole should not raise the baby.

In Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) office at the hospital, Marlena left Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) a message to reschedule his appointment.

Kate DiMera (Lauren Koslow) walked in and together, she and Marlena rehashed everything that was going on with Allie leaving her baby behind and wanting Nicole and Eric to raise the little boy.

Marlena and Kate disagreed about whether Nicole was a good choice for Allie, and they talked at length about Sami getting a restraining order to keep Nicole and Eric from taking possession of the baby.

Ultimately, Marlena and Kate agreed that they each wanted what’s best for the baby, and they hoped that they didn’t see another nasty custody battle in the family.

In the Labor & Delivery wing, Nicole and Eric were approached by Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey), who kept getting interrupted by “what are you wearing” texts from Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer).

Sarah informed Nicole and Eric that Baby Boy Horton would be released today, and Nicole and Eric decided to go load up on formula and diapers. Sarah got a shirtless picture of Xander and got flustered.

Sarah stepped away, and Belle approached Nicole and Eric and slapped them with a restraining order. Belle was kind about how she did it, but she was firm in saying that the restraining order meant that Nicole and Eric couldn’t take the baby home with them.

Belle admitted that she felt bad for Sami, and Nicole fired back that Sami was only doing this to get back at her. Belle hugged Eric and said that she hoped this all worked out before leaving.

Nicole then questioned whether Eric really wanted to fight Sami on this – after all, taking this baby could lead to a lot of heartbreak. But Eric said that Nicole was right, and that Sami was just being vindictive. “We have to be grownups and do what’s best for that baby,” Eric said.

At the Salem Inn, Sarah showed up to see Xander on her lunch break, teasing Xander that she had only been gone for two hours.

After making love, Sarah and Xander had lunch together and talked about Xander’s hope that Victor would make him the new CEO of Titan Industries, now that Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) stepped down. Sarah took off, and Xander looked happy.

Back at the Kiriakis mansion, Nicole and Eric arrived as Bonnie was still adjusting Justin’s new cowboy hat. Bonnie seemed disappointed that she had to leave, and Eric kidded with Justin a little bit about his new hat.

Off-screen, Eric and Nicole told Justin the story about the baby and how they received a restraining order from Sami. Justin asked to see Allie’s letter, then said that he’d take their case, but that he couldn’t make any guarantees.

At the hospital nursery, Marlena and Kate gazed in at Baby Boy Horton, and Lucas and Sami arrived to say that they had a plan. Marlena wished the everyone would just relax and that they could all get along for the baby’s sake.

Sami said that was fine with her, as long as they don’t include Nicole. Sami then asked if she could bring the baby to the penthouse indefinitely.

Later, Marlena, Sami, and the baby arrived at the penthouse. Marlena was bristly with Sami, saying that she wasn’t happy to be in the middle of all this. Marlena asked Sami to have a civilized conversation with Eric and Nicole, and Sami said she’d do her best.

Marlena headed out to the market for supplies, and soon Eric and Nicole appeared at the door.

In town square, Lucas bumped into Bonnie, and after a little back and forth, Bonnie told Lucas that she was “so over him” now. Lucas figured that Bonnie must have her sights set on someone else.

Back at the Kiriakis mansion, Justin took the cowboy hat out of its box and looked at himself in the mirror in the foyer. Justin grinned at himself, then removed the hat and went upstairs.

In the living room, Victor sat alone gazing at Bonnie’s book when Xander arrived. Xander shared that he and Sarah were back together, and he broached the subject of the CEO position. “Before you go any further,” Victor said, “My offering you that job was a bit too soon.”
