Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Jake Lambert (Brandon Barash) will deal with some complex emotions following Gabi Hernandez DiMera’s (Camila Banus) departure. Just when it looked like Jake and Gabi had a chance at a future, it’s being ripped away.
Of course, we know Gabi will return to Days this fall along with Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering). That means things aren’t as bleak as they’ll look to Jake in the coming episodes.
Even so, Jake may have a hard time shaking the pull he felt toward Gabi. Before Gabi and Jake slept together, Gabi pointed out that there’d been heat between them for quite some time.
Jake tried to argue that Gabi’s attraction was about him looking like her dead hubby, Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash). He reminded Gabi that he wasn’t Stefan – to which Gabi responded, “I don’t care.”
This part of the story honestly seems a little disrespectful to Stefan. Days of Our Lives is almost acting like these brothers are interchangeable. What Gabi had with Stefan was supposed to be this grand, once-in-a-lifetime kind of love! Gabi shouldn’t be able to just swap Jake in – at least not this easily.
This isn’t about whether you prefer Jake or Stefan. In fact, many DOOL fans think Jake’s the superior character. This is about the love story Days told between Stefan and Gabi. It feels like they’re cheapening it now, but are they really? Or are they just setting up a twist that involves Jake being Stefan after all?
Maybe the real reason Gabi doesn’t care is because somewhere deep inside, she still knows this is Stefan. Gabi certainly feels something she can’t deny, regardless of this man’s true identity.
With Gabi out of the picture, perhaps it’s time for Jake to discover what he’s been missing. Will Jake’s Stefan memories finally come flooding back?
Days of Our Lives viewers will recall that Jake was given the memory serum, but why? If DOOL writers knew they were going to make Jake a twin brother, what was the point?
Maybe the point was to leave the door open for a delayed reaction. Now that Days has locked Gabi in for a fall return, they may move forward with the memory flood we mentioned.
DOOL will need a strategy to get Gabi back on canvas, so this is an easy one. If Jake ultimately remembers everything – every last detail of Stefan’s steamy love story with Gabi – then he’ll move heaven and earth to find her. Jake might realize Gabi was right from the very first moment she saw him.
If Jake turns out to be Stefan, it could lead him on a desperate mission to find Gabi and rekindle their passion. If “Stabi” is ever going to have a fresh start, Stefan may have to be the one to make it happen! As other Days news and updates emerge, we’ll keep you posted.
