Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, October 1, reveal that Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) met over breakfast at the Brady Pub.
Abe said that he had concerns with Melinda prosecuting Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) and he suggested that Melinda recuse herself from the case. Melinda insisted that she was a professional and that she’d follow the evidence where it led, even if that meant that Kristen went free.
Abe then told Melinda that Lani Price (Sal Stowers) and Kristen were friends, and about their time together in Italy. Melinda found that information quite interesting, and Abe said that he wanted Melinda and Lani to keep their personal feelings out of the case.
Melinda promised that she would, and she left for the police station.
At the Salem PD, Lani and Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) talked in the interrogation room, and both were worried about the information that Melinda had requested, which included surveillance footage from the premises on day that Kristen escaped police custody.
Lani and Eli watched the footage of Lani letting Kristen go, and Lani suggested that the video “disappear.” Eli disagreed, then he got a call and stepped out, and Lani eyeballed the laptop with the footage on it.
A few minutes later, Melinda arrived in the squad room and asked Eli for the evidence that she requested. Eli handed over a list of everyone on duty on the day that Kristen escaped, and Melinda asked for the surveillance footage.
“The footage is right here,” Lani said, as she walked into the squad room and handed the laptop over to Melinda. Lani looked at Eli guiltily.
At the DiMera mansion, Kate DiMera (Lauren Koslow) barged into Jake Lambert’s (Brandon Barash) room and started going through the wardrobe. Jake came out of the bathroom in a towel to see what was going on, and Kate said she was looking for a dress that got in with Jake’s dry cleaning.
Through their conversation, Kate let it slip that Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) closed the Collins deal. Jake was peeved.
Down in the living room, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) told Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) portrait that she was going to destroy Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller). Abigail walked in, followed shortly by Chad.
Abigail was headed off to work at the Spectator, and Gwen was set to watch the kids for the day. Kate soon came in, saying that the kids needed their nanny, and Abigail and Gwen took off to tend to the kids.
Kate and Chad remained in the living room, and soon Jake came in, angry about Chad stepping in on the Collins deal. Chad got in Jake’s face and said that he owed Jake nothing, then Kate and Chad left.
Later, Abigail returned to the room to find Jake there. Abigail called out Jake for making her believe there was more to Gwen kissing Chad than there was.
Jake apologized and admitted he was wrong. Abigail accepted his apology, and then Jake warned Abigail about Gwen, which Gwen overheard from the hallway.
Gwen kept listening as Jake asked Abigail to go to bat for him with Chad. Abigail couldn’t promise anything, but she said she’d see what she could do.
After Abigail and Jake left, Gwen returned to the living room and told Stefano’s portrait that Jake and Abigail were practically best friends now. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Gwen asked the portrait. “Now I just have to figure out how to do it.”
In town square, Chad and Kate had coffee, and Kate noted that Chad didn’t like Jake, probably because he looks like the man who slept with Abigail.
Chad said that Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) didn’t “sleep with” Abigail; he raped her. “I don’t trust him,” Chad said of Jake. Kate agreed to keep an eye in Jake for Chad.
At the Salem Inn, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen woke up together, vowing to beat the charges against Kristen as a team. Kristen, Brady, and Rachel Black headed to the hospital, where they ran into Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) at the nurses’ station.
Brady and Rachel went into see John Black (Drake Hogestyn), while Kristen and Marlena spoke.
Kristen had something to ask Marlena – she wanted to know if Marlena would help raise Rachel in the event that she got sent to prison. This took Marlena by surprise, but Marlena agreed, and she noted that Brady and Rachel seemed to have changed Kristen.
Kristen impulsively hugged Marlena just in time for Brady to return with Rachel. After Marlena took off, Brady said that he never thought he’d see the day when Kristen and Marlena hugged.
