Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that there’s one character that many fans seem to have a problem with lately – and that’s Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk). We have to ask… Who is this woman and what has she done with the real Kristen?!
It’s reasonable that Kristen would’ve mellowed a bit due to becoming a mom, which was her greatest wish. The show established long ago that Kristen wanted a child, so we can buy that motherhood would change Kristen somewhat.
However, it’s hard to understand why Days felt the need to turn Kristen into a different person entirely.
When armed Kristen blew up John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) wedding? That was Kristen. When Kristen donned a Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) mask and put a plan in motion to fake Holly Jonas’ (Elin Alexander) death? That was Kristen.
When Kristen plunged a knife into elderly Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston)? That was Kristen.
Those are all perfectly appropriate things for a character like Kristen to be doing. Kristen is meant to be a villainess – a baddie with a softer side occasionally, not the whimpering victim Days has turned her into.
Sometimes it’s tough to even recognize this woman when DOOL has made her into some martyr that all of Salem has to feel sorry for.
It just seems like a total waste to put Kristen on mommy duty and have that be her entire personality. It goes against decades worth of history and makes Kristen out to be something she isn’t. Let’s look at how some fans are feeling about Kristen’s latest storyline on Twitter.
“Kristen DiMera, I hate this weepy, victim version of her character!” one viewer insisted. “Stacy was good on her first year and impressed me but now her character is just pathetic.” “’Kristen’ thought she could leave the police station after she pled guilty. She’s becoming more stupid by the day. This travesty is a desecration of an icon,” one more fan tweeted.
Another argued that Days of Our Lives is “ruining the best soap villainess of all time…You can be a villainess and a mom.” “Kristen is supposed to be a villain not some weepy willow,” one fan said, echoing that idea.
Kristen works best when she’s got some enemies – and she doesn’t have many other than Melinda Trask (Tina Huang), who’s even starting to sympathize with Kristen a bit now.
Of course, Days has to find the right balance. Kristen can’t be violent and out of control all the time, but she also needs to be more than Mommy Kristen and Lani Price-Grant’s (Sal Stowers) BFF!
