General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there’s one former GH hunk that many viewers still talk about on social media. Brandon Barash earned plenty of fans back when he played Johnny Zacchara. Johnny made his last appearance in 2016, but Barash went on to find great success at Days of Our Lives.
Of course, DOOL made a major blunder by killing off Stefan DiMera – the character Barash made popular as a recast. Once Days realized they’d made a massive mistake, they asked Barash back to the show.
Barash is currently playing a lookalike named Jake Lambert (Brandon Barash), although it may eventually be revealed that he’s a back-from-the-dead Stefan.
The point is Days of Our Lives saw Barash’s popularity and took advantage of it. They worked to make things right since Barash is such a talented performer who has sizzling chemistry with his costars.
It seems like General Hospital really blew it by not keeping Johnny around – or at least by not finding a way to bring him back again.
On Twitter, there are plenty of GH fans who are still annoyed by Johnny’s absence. You’ll also find some comparisons between Johnny and Jake, who we mentioned is Barash’s current Days character.
“’Jake’ is pretty much Johnny 2.0 on a different soap,” one fan tweeted. “Jake has so much Johnny Zacchara vibes,” said another.
However, there are some soap watchers who feel like Johnny can’t be beat! “Johnny Zacchara on General Hospital was way more fun and interesting to watch than Jake Lambert and even Stefan O. DiMera,” a fan insisted. “I love Brandon but I would still choose the #GH stuff over the #Days stuff.”
Barash is thriving at Days, so it’s doubtful a return trip to General Hospital will happen anytime soon. Even so, that won’t stop tons of GH fans from feeling like he’s the hunk who got away!
Anything can happen in the future, so never say never on Brandon Barash’s comeback as Johnny Zacchara. It doesn’t hurt to hold out hope!
