General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) pregnancy presents some interesting opportunities. When GH fans last saw Maxie, she was panicking over her calendar and realizing she might have a bun in the oven. Maxie didn’t fill Peter August (Wes Ramsey) in on her suspicions, but she did admit he might be right about checking in with her doctor.
Since that’s where General Hospital left off, we should consider where they’ll go from here. There are a few different places to take this story based on a long-term outlook. Let’s run down the list and figure out where things might be headed. Here are four ways GH could take Maxie’s baby storyline.
1) False alarm
Although General Hospital probably wants to pursue this angle now that they’ve introduced it, nothing’s guaranteed after this lengthy shutdown. There’s been buzz about some story changes behind the scenes, so it’s possible Maxie’s pregnancy could be dropped.
However, it seems far more likely GH will use this pregnancy to rev up the Peter pressure and ultimately expose him. That’s probably the whole point of making Maxie pregnant, so General Hospital might as well see this through.
2) Tragic miscarriage
There’s also a chance GH writers don’t intend to let Maxie keep this baby. As we mentioned, this pregnancy seems to be all about Peter’s exposure. It’s just another crucial step toward Peter’s downfall. With that in mind, this pregnancy may end in heartbreak for Maxie. Peter could spiral out of control and potentially lead to Maxie’s tragic miscarriage.
That’d be a sad outcome for Maxie, but Kirsten Storms would get some great material out of it. Peter would also have to live with the knowledge that he caused the death of his child. He might inadvertently create too much trauma for Maxie as this storyline builds to its climax.
Maxie could lose her baby – and Peter could lose the chance to be a father.
3) Redemption baby
Then again, it’s possible this baby will be used as part of Peter’s redemption. Maybe Peter will finally see the light about all the evil he’s been putting into the world. If Peter’s going to stick around, he’ll probably have to turn from his wicked ways.
Villains this nasty don’t usually stay on the show forever, so Peter may have to tone it down and be the kind of dad his kid deserves.
Peter would still have plenty of work to do when it comes to earning Maxie’s forgiveness, but he’d have a permanent link to her through this child. That could potentially lead to reconciliation at some point.
4) Baby’s Peter-less future
Another possibility would be for Maxie to find out all Peter’s dirty deeds and cut him out of the picture. Maxie might work to keep Peter out of this child’s life for good. Prison or death are other strategies GH could use to make that happen. Regardless, this baby could have a Peter-less future if that’s how General Hospital wants this to go.
